Dutch Anti Piracy Organisation BREIN closed 7 Torrentsites
Dutch Anti Piracy organisation has closed down 7 torrent sites with over
70.000 registered users which were all hosted in the Netherlands and has conviscated their servers and personal information about their owners. Dutch Internet Hosting Provider LeaseWeb was forced by court to cooperate with Brein and give access to the servers and hand over any information about the owners. The owners will be prosecuted by law. http://www.anti-piracy.nl :thumbsup I'm in contact with BREIN regarding porn piracy and so far had some good conversations with them and they are willing to assist by taking action and providing us with information on how to address the problem. If all goes well I will have someone from BREIN come to webmaster access to attend the round table meeting and answer our questions :winkwink: |
here's the original article....it's in Dutch though....and it mentions 6 but another
was added yesterday http://www.anti-piracy.nl/nieuws/ber...wsberichtid=83 |
good- illegal torrents are leeching, thieving, vermons. thanks for the article.

every country should have laws as Poland where people can get a surprise police visit at any time and get their computers seized when they are sharing pirated files on the web
|
Thats great news, I hope they jail the fuckers, Bubba loves geeks

for distributing piracy content (including linking to it) or max 4 years prison. Companies contributing to piracy can be fined up to 670.000 euros and 4 years of prison. Both automatically get prosecuted by the dutch IRS as it's a tax violation :thumbsup |

Awesome news and it's just the start.

Great news!

Yes the best part of this is that the supreme court ruled that any provider that
doesn't provide BREIN with the info regarding piracy sites or isn't able to hand over correct info (fake address and such) will automatically be held responsible for the damage which means they can and will be fined up to 670.000 euros and risk 4 years of prison. LeaseWeb is the most famous providers facilitating to Torrent and Usenet Piracy sites.....they got hit hard and got convicted to paying huge fines. All torrent sites on their network have been closed down now. Also KPN a dutch telecom/internet provider got fined for the same reasons. The Netherlands is stepping up to fight piracy and they mean serious business now. :thumbsup Holland is no longer a safe haven for piracy....instead our country is now one of the leading countries in fighting it |
This is not the first time brein those this. And brein is just a private orginisation just like u and I can start up.
U just need funds. And the Netherlands is a good place to start such a origination because here is a lot of bandwidth for cheap prices. (VPS whit 100Mbit flatfee for 250 euro) But I get the feeling this wil never happen in the adult scene. |

personally very well. Obviously Holland can only prosecute dutch residents and companies.....they CAN close down any server that's hosted in NL though....Eweka is still a Dutch company....highwinds may have bought it but they bought the Dutch company.....so it's still Dutch and can be procesuted by law :2 cents: |
Quote:
But the owner of the eweka BV is a US company. So u can not sue them. U can sue eweka bv but what u get then is that they just will declare bankruptcy. |

They can't just close down anyone without proof. Anyway I'm not here to discuss whether their strategy is flawless or not......7 torrent sites got closed and that's good news to me........and I'll guarantee more will follow |
I see piratebay is still coming up. Till that day it doesn't, I don't care about feel-good stories like this.
O look, Quote:

for example all their servers and infrastructure.....:2 cents: |
Great news and a good signal: Torrent webmasters can't feel safe any more. I just hope courts in other countries step up as well...and next stop is online file storage services like rapidshare.

some countries have openly stated they will not prosecute p2p and BT sites. sweden is one, i believe france followed suit as well.

But, although some torrents are bad I'd like to see the law based on which they shut down those sites given that they don't actually serve any content they just keep some meta data about files. |

You could easily be used for some political gain by involving yourself thi9s way, but i wont get into it. I doubt any cares. Just remember, when tey were kicking in doors for 2257, everyone was scared. They go after torrents you feel safe again. What makes you think they aint coming for you next? Will Brien help you then? |
im split down the middle on this subject there are a lot of people that cannot afford the things others in life can and unless piracy reached a point where everything and everyone can be reached for free some piracy here and there like people copying tape to tape from music will not suddenly kill off a industry of any kind.It has certainly not reached that point with torrents.
Its equal to say that the huge disgusting amounts of money celebs can make from making crappy films and music albums and other forms of revenue are also wrong. Then you could start with the corporations and fast food industry it goes on and on.Of course if its against the law then its against the law! |

solve the problem......but at least it's a start.....it's too easy to bash every attempt from people who are at least willing to take some kind of action. It won't be an easy fight and it won't go quick.....but at least there's a few people who seem willing to at least do something......without those nothing will happen at all and things will only get worse. I don't even agree with everything brein does or the way they do it......it has flaws and some things make me frown.......that said the damage caused by piracy I hate more than the way organisations like Brein use to fight it. Their tactics will change along the way as they're also pionering and exploring the options they have.....Holland used to be piracy paradise because of our liberal legislation and strong protection of privacy........something the Dutch are very proud of but we also realised that those liberties were being exploited and abused...... Also hunting for piracy sites and going after them legaly is just part of a way to the solution.....we also have to look at ourselves and improve the way we protect our business and content as frankly it's way too easy to grab our content and distribute it. I don't have the illusion that I'm able to put a stop to all of this and it's certainly not the time for cheers of victory.......I am willing though to take part in the action that's required to do something about it.......that's the first thing we need to accomplish anything at all.......sitting back watching things get worse and moan about it doesn't change anything except that things will get worse.......till now we haven't done anyting at all than let people rob our content and give it away for free........that's part of the reason why it gets worse so fast coz everybody knows that till now not a single soul does anything about it to stop it. All the recent attention on the boards resulted in a bunch of people that are ready to change that and take some form of action but to be honest with all the noise we've made I'm still shocked how hard it is to get people mobilized.......at times I wonder how nuts I am for convincing people who their business is hurt by this to do something........most seem to have the idea that it's a lost battle before they even try to do something about it. The way I see it at this moment that apart from the fact that we can't stop people to do illegal things or that we're not responsible to police the internet the fact that we just sit like sitting ducks and let those rob us and take advantage of it is at least 50% of the reason why it's as bad as it is now.........we may never be able to stop piracy but defenitely be able to reduce it drastically if we stand up and at least make it less easy for people to do and everytime get away with it. If we can reduce or stop the growth of this trend, and show the public that we do care and try to improve our products and services that will defenitely at some point have a positive effect on our business and our reputation as an industry........there's numerous of other examples that proof this...........ASCAP, Freedom of Speech Coalition, etc, etc Showing the public and the authorities we care is equally important in getting results than the amount of sites we're able to get closed. Showing we feel responsible and that we're taking action towards bad effects that are the result of any form of abuse of our business will get us support at some point instead of more legislation that hurts our business and is created and isn't made to ban out porn as a good responsible industry but as an effective way to get rid of the problems that arise from not being able to keep our content safe and accessible from anyone except our paying clients. I'm confident that a lot of negative legislation is the direct result of things like torrents and free porn because kids and people who aren't interested in our products are confronted and harassed with it.......coz anyone can access porn through these channels.....without any verification of their age, without having to pay and regardless if the nature of the content is legal......... 2257 is imho for a big part about this......coz if it was just to get rid of the adult industry as a whole there's a lot better things you can come with to accomplish that.......governments mostly don't consider our industry as the biggest problems.......but the negative effects that our business causes and for doing too little to control it ourselves. Apart from the financial damage this causes to ourselves we seem to forget about the problems this causes to children and anyone who doesn't want to get confronted with anything our business provides......... Ignoring those things by saying......well I can't help if others steal my shit give it to kids isn't going to fly........it IS our responsibility to prevent those things from happening as much as we can.......if we do show we feel responsible and attempt to do something about we may be able to get rid of the destructive image our industry currently has. :2 cents: So you all can keep bashing every initiative that people take to improve our situation as a whole coz I really don't care......I know that whatever I come up with is better than doing nothing........apart from the fact that bashing only shows that you have no interest in this business coz if you do then this and every other thing that's related to our industry also affect you. Even if you're an affiliate and don't run any sites yourself.....you will be effected too......it's a matter of time that before you're not able to make galleries anymore using pictures you do not own yourself and have the required documents for to be able to use them. So anyone laughing and ridiculing these things must be people who don't have anything todo with this business....if they would they'd think twice before bashing and making fun of it....... I won't defend or respond to haters again after this......you can hate all you want, you can ridicule all you want......It won't hurt my feelings and it won't hurt my motivation for doing what I do........the only thing that would bother me.......is realising when it's too late that I didn't do anything while I still had the chance.......if at some point we still lose then at least I know that I did my part to prevent it........going under without putting up a fight is the only thing I'd ever regret.......to fail doesn't bother me at all especially not when I know I've tried the best to make it work.......coz then failure is a valuable learning experience.....doing nothing is 10 times worse than failing....doing nothing will never get you ahead...... Flame away GFY........I'm sure you already noticed....I'm stoned as fuck today which for some reason makes me posts complete novels......so to hurt my feelings is even more difficult than usual......so if that's your objective at least make sure you give it your best shot...... :thumbsup |
and no I won't give you cliff notes......I'm not stoned enough todo that just yet
besides 99% of you hangs out here doing nothing else anyway......so don't give me.....I don't have time to read all this.......We all know you've got nothing else to do besides being here to get through the day :-) |
I'll be out for a few hours trying to do some work.......so be patient for me to
reply.......I won't ignore you or any accusations my way for not replying to them within 5 minutes........but if it makes you feel better assuming that then feel free to take advantage of the moment........and enjoy the feeling while it lasts........cya later GFY |
