Smokers - is this FAIR?
 

at an indian casino tonight. Playing blackjack and someone sits down beside me and starts smoking. Ok no problem but they they start blowing smoke my way - maybe on purpose maybe not - but second hand smoke is still comming all over me now.

so I start coughing. I'm alerigic to smoke.

But I cough without my hand on my mouth and in the smoker's direction. He gets PISSED. So i say - blow smoke at me and I cough on you. Seems fair to me.

He complains - no avail.

The dealer said I have the right to cough in any direction I want and didn't have to cover my mouth so long as saliva wasn't spewing out. (dealer was a non smoker too).

So I think I have a new motto - blow smoke on me and I cough on you. :thumbsup

I have no problem with respectible smokers who don't blow their smoke in my direction, I have little patience for people who think they can blow their smoke anywhere though in closed buildings.

When I smoked I was always polite and I would ask those around me and never assume and never would I blow smoke towards anyone on purpose, well unless... never mind

as a smoker I would not do shit like that out of respect for people next to me. If he blew smoke on you than you have the right to do what you did. Fair is fair.

Im a smoker and I don't think you did anything wrong. He should have at least apologized for blowing smoke in your face.

I am a heavy smoker and blowing smoke in someones face is fucking rude.

TOTALLY FUCKING RUDE of him to do that. Smokers don't bother me IF they are not rude about it. Don't blow it in my direction and don't smoke while I'm eating.

Assuming his saturating you in smoke wasn't on purpose, it sounds rather rude.

Of course, his covering you with smoke is also rather rude.

Guess it's all what you want to be about.

Probably a few different ways to handle the situation better, but whatever floats your boat. I wouldn't say it's totally unjustified.

I am a smoker and I think what you did was just on the same level as what he did

I always try and keep smoke away from non-smokers

if I am at a table with non-smokers I always hold the cig away from them and blow behind me away from them

sounds good to me .. when I'm playing craps, I need to smoke, but if the ppl next to me have a problem, I'll hold my cig under the rail when I look at the roll or pass bets and then turn away from the table when I'm taking a drag.

If someone is being an asshole and blowing it at you intentionally you can do whatever you want. I always try my best to be respectful of other people when I'm smoking in designated areas where smoking is allowed.

I'm a smoker and you def did the right thing. I'm always cautious around non-smokers to blow the smoke another way. I can see it being harder crowded around a casino table, but still, buddy was a dick

Let the non-smokers hang out in one of the million smoke-free amusements offered in the US. Freakin' casinos are the last place outside of my Home I can sit INSIDE, drink a cocktail and burn one.

Our state just pass a law banning smoking in all restaurants( except bars and shit ) and I'm glad. 80% of the idiots that live here smoke. Now they can stop giving cancer. They also raised the cigarette taxes her 42 cents pack too. GOOD. Smoking less is good for you. But you don't need to say thank you.

this is true. :2 cents: Even here in Vegas everything BUT the casinos has gone non-smoking. Any establishment that serves food isn't allowed to have smoking.

for all those smokers that say they keep the cigar away: I don't think you realize that smoke also comes from your mouth when you smoke.

I also don't believe you realize that just because you can't smell it doesn't mean your breath don't stink of it for at least 20 minute after.
smokers are people that stink 24 hours a day, because it also sticks to your hair, your cloths, your skin etc.

hey we're all going to die. sure smoking isn't healthy, but theres a lot of shit that isn't healthy.

And most smokers (like myself) would quit if it was as easy as putting them down and not smoking ever again. I got sucked in when I was 13 years old and I've been smoking half my life. I want to quit, but I really can't.

Come to one of the new UK casinos when they are up and running. As of the first of this month there is no smoking in bars, restaurants and such places. Since I am also allergic to smoke I am loving it.

Being a smoker, I don't like the smoke lingering around me. That's supposed to be in my lungs. Therefore, I'm always considerate of the people around so I blow up, and away.

I don't think you did anything bad sleazy.

All of which still doesn't make it okay to cover another person's face in your smoke.

But places us smokers are actually allowed to smoke are getting less and less by the day. When Vegas turns completely non-smoking(except for the big casinos) you know its getting tough.

The worst is airports that dont even offer a closed in smoking lounge. :(

Smoking is banned here in all indoor areas.. casinos, bars, clubs, the lot.

if i had a kid, he certainly wouldn't be in a casino where smoking is allowed and i wouldn't be smoking in the house with him/her. :2 cents:

Same as me. Seattle we can't smoke in any public place. period.

However, this incident occurred in a casino on a native reservation and are technically independent nations that make their own laws. When the smoking ban went into effect in my state...every bar, casino, and the like on the reservations, doubled their money because the people simply took their business to the reservations.

I support you sleazy, but not the best place to go to avoid smoke inhalation.

I blow the smoke upwards towards my nose and reinhale. This way i get 1st and 2nd hand puffs

yea I'm not suggesting people should be allowed to go to you and blow smoke in your face. But on that same token, don't go sitting in the smoking section of the resturant (if there is one) and complain that that there is smoke. Just like I'm not going to smoke in the non-smoking section. If the casino allows smoking, it gets tight around those tables and sometimes it can't be helped.

I do wish smokers had better accomidations in places like airports and shit. I'm making a list of smoker friendly airports and I try to (if i can) avoid traveling thru the ones that have no way to smoke at all other than leaving the airport and going back thru security.

in a casino if the people are cool i light up and blow it upwards towards the eye in the sky or if dealer gives me bad hand i blow it in his face till he passess out

what he did was rude...i smoke, and i always ask the people around me if its okay to smoke in the same area as them...
