I smoke and I say cigs should be completely illegal.
Until then i wish they left few places where i can just sit and light one. That's just ridiculous why there are any smokers restaurants, etc.
It should be up to biz owners to decide who they wish to cater to.

Scootermuze 07-11-2007 05:36 AM

"Blow that smoke in my face one more time and you'll be eatin' that cigarette."

GhengisBong 07-11-2007 05:37 AM

sure sounds good

Serge Litehead 07-11-2007 05:37 AM

And I do respect non-smokers. There was nothing wrong with what you did there Sleazy.

gimo33 07-11-2007 05:45 AM

I'm also a smoker and I ask the people around me if it was ok to light a cig. what that guy did was rude. I would actually laugh when I see someone cough on a smokers face when he blew smoke intentionally on the other guy.

cool1 07-11-2007 06:03 AM

you did nothing wrong.
I too try and keep my smoke away from folks who don't smoke.

sometimes I wish folks would keep thier car exhaust away from me
.

C_U_Next_Tuesday 07-11-2007 06:17 AM

I would have sneezed/coughed all over his chips, if he continued then I would have put the cigg out for him.

Im not a smoker, and drunk smokers are the worst.. been burned by many a cig just walking by a stupid fuck waving a cig around talking aimlesly.. I have never given up the opportunity to take their cig from their hand and burn them back..oh yes indeed.

JamesK2 07-11-2007 06:19 AM

I am a smoker and I'd sit next to other smokers, keep distance from non-smokers or not smoke at all. :thumbsup

They also raised the cigarette taxes her 42 cents pack too. GOOD. Smoking less is good for you. But you don't need to say thank you.

Pfft! You are harmed more by driving with your car windows open. Do I think you have the right to have smoke-free entertainment? Youbet! But not every freakin' freestanding building, and the surrounding walkways.

Not to worry though .. sooner or later .. something you do, will be labeled a determent to society .. then you'll be the leper, out in rain - standing next to an idling SUV.

Romeo GaySearch4Sex 07-11-2007 06:40 AM

I smoke on and off, and never have been able to fully quit... I dont smoke that much anymore, but I take responsibility for it.

I always try not to smoke near non smokers, at least blowing smoke away from them... People at a Casino should just take a break and smoke somewhere else besides the table

its rude!

I had that happen to me too - it was at a gig and some guy decided that packed line to get out of the place after the show was the best time to be carrying a lit cig. He ended up branding me with it and not even saying sorry when I screamed from the pain. It took ages to heal too.

i agree, and i'm not even a smoker anymore. i can see if the law stated that places that had a smoking section, had to be 100% smoking and couldn't claim to have "non-smoking" sections. but to say that all businesses, whether they like it or not, have to be 100% non-smoking was taking it a bit too far. i understand that it was a pretty bum deal for non-smoking waiters and waitresses to have to deal with tons of second hand smoke day in and day out if they were in the smoking sections, but if a business owner wants his establishment to be 100% smoke-allowed, he should be able to. if someone applies there, they would know this right off the bat and would probably be a smoker themselves.

anyways.. getting off topic here. :) but just wanted to support your statement. :)

i used to smoke roughly two packs per day, but i quit years ago. when i did smoke, though, i never smoked around those who were bothered by it. if i felt the need to light up while i was with them, i would excuse myself and either go outside or if we were already outside, go to a different area. it's a filthy habit to have, and a non-smoker shouldn't have to deal with it when they've made the decision to avoid it.

i don't see anything wrong with what you did. :thumbsup

MissMina 07-11-2007 07:30 AM

Yeah I hate that shit too. Since I am now a non smoker and have been for well over a year now...

JadaY 07-11-2007 07:37 AM

And I will put out my cigarette on your forehead, fatass.

Fair?

OldJeff 07-11-2007 07:42 AM

I just start farting, one of the advantages to my horrible diet.

I am positive that one of my Kimchee Burrito farts will bother anyone more than their second hand smoke bothers me.

lazycash 07-11-2007 08:25 AM

Whats worse is when I'm sitting at a blackjack table and the person next to me just leaves their cig in the ash tray with the smoke wafting up in my face and they only take a puff like every three min. I guess I just can't relate because I've never even tried a cig in my life, just seems like a disgusting habit.

You don't often hear of people dying of lung and brain cancer due to driving. I'm sure it has some effect but i somehow doubt its one of the leading causes of premature death like smoking is. And soon smoking won't be allowed in casinos. Its already here in canada. And they want to pass laws to ban smoking in apartments too because of the smoke that gets into the hallways and into non smoker apartments. Smoking is a useless, it stinks and makes you wrinkle up like a prune as you get older. I don't know why anyone still does it.

I agree that a business owner should be given the right to state, "Yarr! All ye' who enter here will eventually die of smoke inhalation! You be WARNED", equating to just a big anti smoking ad as the front of the building...But whats bullshit...as i stated in post #39 of this thread, is that WONT work because the bars who choose to allow it, would make so much more money than the bars who don't, that all bars would REVERT to smoking for the revenue...(as they maybe should be. I don't bring my child to a smoking area...or a bar for that matter :thumbsup)

And again, Sleazy, you're justified in what you did. Being a smoker, MAD props!! When I'm in Vegas...I blow my smoke up, and away.

Also as I said in post #39 -Dream, the reservation, not a place to choose as it is a refuge of smokers, but I'm a courteous one so I say...COUGH on that moffo!

Octopus 07-11-2007 09:11 AM

It doesn't matter if you are a smoker or not, you must to respect people.

mattz 07-11-2007 09:14 AM

I'm a smoker, and I never smoke around people that are eating, that's just rude. Also, when I smoke in public around people I never blow it in their faces, I always make sure to exhale upwards.

they already have here in winnipeg.
one apartment block is totally non-smoking here and they will kick you out if you smoke in your apartment.
my block has a no smoking in the halls rule.

XTube_Kurtis 07-11-2007 09:28 AM

I'm a smoker and I agree with you!

Fair?

please do. I'm 6'3 and 300lbs and actually in decent shape now

frostyimpressions 07-11-2007 09:30 AM

That's actually a good motto to live by. Your germs and saliva probably are not as life threatening as second hand smoke too.

shermo 07-11-2007 10:14 AM

Thanks Sleazy..I now have a new way to react to smokers who get near me. :)

so I start coughing. I'm alerigic to smoke.

But I cough without my hand on my mouth and in the smoker's direction. He gets PISSED. So i say - blow smoke at me and I cough on you. Seems fair to me.

He complains - no avail.

The dealer said I have the right to cough in any direction I want and didn't have to cover my mouth so long as saliva wasn't spewing out. (dealer was a non smoker too).

So I think I have a new motto - blow smoke on me and I cough on you. :thumbsup

I have no problem with respectible smokers who don't blow their smoke in my direction, I have little patience for people who think they can blow their smoke anywhere though in closed buildings.

I'm a smoker and if I was smoking next to you and you did that I would completely understand because I can not smoke around other non smokers in a closed in environment like that; I have manners.

Now if you coughed on me like you described and I was not smoking I would piss on your foot under the table! lol

(visible saliva or not as all coughs have some sort of minute mucus particles)

woj 07-11-2007 10:57 AM

sounds fair :thumbsup

SilkyJohnson 07-11-2007 11:06 AM

Sounds like that guy was just an inconsiderate asshole...I used to smoke and wouldn't blow smoke into other people's faces that shit is just rude. Well sometimes I would do it but it was to piss people off...:1orglaugh

Fuck that guy...I say cough on his ass!

Sands 07-11-2007 11:10 AM

I am a smoker myself. I don't smoke indoors, unless it is in the privacy of my own home, or the home of a friend who also smokes. Otherwise I'll only smoke outdoors away from other people, especially away from children. I'm well aware of the fact that many, many others don't smoke, don't like the smell, and are concerned with their health. Above all, it's an issue of respect for your fellow human beings who happen to be in close proximity.

Also, as a smoker, I cannot stand someone blowing smoke in my face. If another individual were blowing smoke in my face intentionally, and to invoke a reaction, he would certainly get one. I can sympathize with non-smokers in that regard. :2 cents:

Brother Bilo 07-11-2007 11:13 AM

Ya, if I'm at a table that is primarily non smokers, I would cup the smoke in my hand, take a step back from the table and then blow the smoke up and away. That guy was a dick and I'm sure I would of ended up getting kicked out of the casino if I was in your shoes.

Axarsys 07-11-2007 11:15 AM

Well, you could have said his smoking bothered you, that you are allergic and asked him not to blow the smoke in your direction, if only to avoid the dispute. It always works for me, as I have little tolerance for arguing with rude idiots. But, again it's your lungs, your health, your decision...

Kevin Cunningham 07-11-2007 11:20 AM

I've noticed smokers to be more and more inconsiderate of NS these days. :-(

SilvercashJeanette 07-11-2007 12:15 PM

I think you made a fine decision...Fair and just!

I'm a smoker, but I don't ever blow smoke on anyone on purpose and usually extremely attentive to where my smoke is going and who is near me. If I ever do accidentally blow a little smoke their way, I quickly apologize for it and move to correct it for next time.

If I didn't do any of that, I would expect to be coughed on (in the least!)

_Richard_ 07-11-2007 12:17 PM

i'd say it was completely fair, and a little funny

Big_D 07-11-2007 12:20 PM

i smoke 1 1/2 packs a day

but i always ask if its cool with everyone if i smoke where im at if in public and if its not no reason i cant go outside and smoke...

good on ya dude, you should have spued

LoriAnderson 07-11-2007 12:32 PM

That was rude of him to blow smoke in your direction.... I wouldve coughed right in his face too :winkwink:

Evil Chris 07-11-2007 12:33 PM

I'm an ex smoker, so I try not to be too critical of smokers. But I have learned that it smells bad. I think the deal you're making is fair though.

sniperwolf 07-11-2007 03:07 PM

good motto there Sleazy!:thumbsup

It is an addiction .. why start? You'd have to be born in my time, when tobacco was marketed to my generation and the ill effects never mentioned. Even our Doctor smoked, while doing a consoulation.

I'm not real sure what "premature death" means .. we die when we die. My Father is a life long smoker and he's 80 now, maybe if he quit, he'd live longer.

Personally, I think you are all mostly bitching about ppl who are rude and unthinking w/ their habits. But as a smoker, it's kinda nice, knowing that there is still one place, where the non-smokers don't get the last word.
