I don't think this is a joke. jayeff would never joke like that.

I spoke with him several times on ICQ a few months back and he told me he was terminally ill and not doing well.

wow, this really sucks. He was one of the most intelligent people in this industry and very well spoken. Nice good guy as well... rest in peace.

When scanning a thread he was one of few posters that I would always stop and make sure I read his reply. Seemed like the type of person this industry needs more of, strong ethical values and not afraid to call people out who are acting recklessly within the industry.

well i was thinking the same thing but i also was wondering if jayeff made much money doing what he did - i suspect not alot, and i also have a feeling that didn't matter too much to him. this is an industry where strong ethical values will hold you back. you're competing and dealing with scumbags most of the time.

Profits of Doom 06-17-2007 02:28 PM

I've been trying to get in touch with him through e-mail and ICQ for a few weeks with no luck. I learned a ton about blogging by chatting with him on here and through his site. I can't even begin to say how sad I am to hear this :Oh crap RIP Jayeff...

I don't know any of his business dealings, but I had the opposite impression. Seemed like by some of his comments he had run and sold multi million dollar businesses, had the feeling though they were mainstream. I could be wrong, looks as if a few here knew him well and could comment on his business success.

Violetta 06-17-2007 02:37 PM

very very sad! :( rip

I think he was retired a few times over from his previous life.

Hotrocket 06-17-2007 02:47 PM

A very sad day...

I met jayeff on TNB somewhere around 99 when I was just a noob in the biz, he was always one of the most generous and helpful people on the board.
As many of you were aware by his always well written and insightful posts he was a very intelligent man. It's a great loss to the industry and he will truly be missed.

crockett 06-17-2007 02:50 PM

Sorry to hear.. best wishes to his family.

I didn't do much biz with when but had a few trades. Always seemed like a good person.

yeah i read his bio and i wasn't referring to his past careers - just what he was doing on the Net with adult stuff. he got into this he said because he needed a less stressful job because of his health problems

OzMan 06-17-2007 03:12 PM

I am very sorry to hear this. He always brought amazing insight to any discussion. He was an extremely intelligent man and I wish him all the best on his next journey. :thumbsup

corvette 06-17-2007 03:54 PM

a great tragedy

RawAlex 06-17-2007 03:56 PM

A great tragedy... I understand that he had major heart issues... truly too bad.

The Other Steve 06-17-2007 04:46 PM

While lots of people make a lot of noise on message boards all Jayeff ever did was make a lot of sense. He was definitely one of the gentlemen in this business and it's a pity there aren't more like him because we need his type more than we need the people who just make noise.

pr0 06-17-2007 04:54 PM

We just paid him & he completed cleaning up the CSS on our new dating program. I spoke with him on the phone for well over an hour & he was one of the most down to earth & respectable people I've ever talked to in this business.

He told me he was happy with the way he lived now, & that aside from the pain of his heart problems, he was happy living on that farm out in Kansas.

Rest in peace my good sir.....& have a pint with jim morrison/chris farley (give then my regards) if you guys get internet up there :thumbsup

Heres my tribute to the consummate businessman & designer

beta-tester 06-17-2007 04:58 PM

RIP Jayeff, Ive read your posts on multiple boards for the last 8 years I think, and youve helped me out with various things as well, over the years, always very intelligent unbiased comments.:(

Theo 06-17-2007 06:13 PM

I'm shocked....

I had a short talk with him about 3 months ago and he told me about a serious long-term health problem he was facing which I feel shame now I can't recall. I won't forget the way he delivered this bad news to me, with extreme courage and I called him brave guy.

RIP brave man.

DTK 06-17-2007 06:30 PM
