My new BroadBand is shit - how do I get out of the contract?
I have to reload every page 2 or 3 times and they say nothing is wrong - I pay about $60 a month for an 8mb package that only delivers 4-6mb.
They say I have a 12 month contract so GFY (or words to that effect) - should I just stop paying and wait until they do something or should I go legal first? Its bloody annoying. |
A contract for Internet? Really? I've never had to sign one. Was this a special deal or is it standard practice?

same here, except we pay 30 euros for telephone, 21mbit ADSL (though it's only 14 mbit IP), and freeview through adsl.
I got out of my last contract simply because they stated it was 11mbit and I only ever got 1mbit. They said "some users may vary" I said "fuck you" and went to the office of fair trading, where they cancelled on my behalf for false advertising (the 'some users may vary' never figured on any of their signup pages) YMMV |
Are you perchance with pipex?
|
if you are in the USA most states give you 3 to 15 days to cancel. You can list poor speed as the reason for breaking the contract...

wrong DNS servers?

Call them up and tell them you are moving overseas to work for the Peace Corps. :) Tell them you really want to continue using their service however you don't think they have coverage in Botswana, Africa.

talk to them first step

well if they are not delivering what they promise in the contract, then prove it, and you can get out of it.
