History lesson from my son

I asked my 10 year old son if he knew who the Beatles were..

He said, "Yeah, weren't they just a cheap knockoff of the Monkees?"

Haha... that's great.

I have to admit, that, at his age, I dug the Monkees more than the Beatles - but that's because the Beatles didn't have a corney T.V. show to appeal to my sophomoric sense of humor. :)

Sounds like he's old enough to learn the truth - the Beatles and the Monkees were both knockoffs of Los Shakers...

Jarmusch 05-19-2007 01:47 PM

Well, at least he knows the monkees. :)

gmr324 05-19-2007 04:53 PM

I'm impressed that at his age he even knows the Monkees and maybe more surprised they still have re-runs on TV

Amazing answer from the kid

jakethedog 05-20-2007 08:21 AM

just asked my 11 year old .. he said he knew who they were .. but couldn't name any songs ..but mumbled something about an "octopus under the sea song" ..lol
But at 11 his absolute favorite band is .. "Sean Paul" and the bad new to me is .. I have no idea who that is .. LOL..serves me right for asking ...

Loved the monkees!!!

High Plains Drifter 05-20-2007 12:39 PM

I was watching the new Planet Earth documentary (highly recommended) last night with my son when we got into an argument over whether an insect in an animal. I should have known the answer but I was wrong - an insect *is* an animal - and the little conceited 7 year pompous son of a gun proceeded to rub it in all night. Little turd.

sniperwolf 05-20-2007 06:42 PM

hahah, your son is so damn smart man!!!

gornyhuy 05-20-2007 07:58 PM

Damn... I feel stupid now. :(

Richard - Triplexcash 05-20-2007 08:10 PM

That's too funny! I will have to check and see if my sons know either of the bands ;)

tony286 05-20-2007 08:15 PM

ayne468 05-20-2007 08:24 PM
