dog farts ..no matter what other smells are going on dog farts will always cut through and make sure you can't ignore them. Currently I am sitting here with two puppies that are taking turns farting.

rotting carcass is much worse IMHO. One is stinky, the other is absolutely repellant.

the smell of a decomposing dead body in an apt takes the cake. unfortunately have come across a few of those over the years in law enforcement era of my existence. yech.

I have to admit that I have not spent much time around rotting bodies to be able to compare.

LOL I am sure there are worse smells but it's pretty rank.

While Dog farts are up their with the rankest of the rank.. I'd have to say my son knows how to clear out a room better than anyone else!

OMG, yesterday I was looking at making reservations there for next week :) I can't do any traveling for most of June because the dog sitter is on vacation (how DARE she.....). Will you guys be able to come up at least for dinner next week or the next? I might have to postpone for a week because speaking of dogs, they all need grooming (except for Ferd who refuses to be groomed) and vet visits. That's going to be a 2-3 day ordeal, lol.

I live nearby to and downwind from a sewage treatment plant and I still say the dog farts are worse. At least when the sewage plant is 'ripe' I can close a window and keep it out. When my dogs let rip there is nowhere to hide.

Your post reminded me of the smell of burning sugar cane fields that I smelled right before the harvest while growing up in Hawaii...sweet but acrid.

Sewage smells like roses next to a paper mill. I'd rather roll around in a puddle of liquid dog shit and get sprayed by a skunk than ever smell that smell again.

My little puppy has been ripping farts like crazy. It's horrible!

If the wind blew a certain way we'd get a whiff of the papermill in Savannah. Smelled like sulfur, which is what my mother's well water when she lived on the river in Jacksonville smelled like - not nice but you get used to it.

When in Jax, my school was across the river from the Maxwell House plant. Making coffee puts out a smell like burnt toast.

A dead squirrel in your duct system will also curl your hair - and takes FOREVER to find and get out.

And I swear I worked for a guy who had the WORST smelling poops....and my office was right across from the restrooms :( I had an industrial strength can of air freshener I'd start spraying as soon as he walked in there.

Ya, and some flowers smell like that, too...

Evolved trait to attract flies and dung beetles for pollination. Freaky shit.

I was actually thinking about that plant as I was posting the thread...they had one in Kew Gardens last year.

Except for one time I was with my bro at Skyline Chili in Cincy- he ripped a fart so potent it ripped the wallpaper off the walls there as well as he ended up shitting his pants.

That was a pretty abhorrent and repugnant stench I'll never forget.

My favorite is what I like to call "The Butt Pucker" - when they bark so hard their butt pucker sticks out :) Meg, my oldest, is really the hands down winner on this.

My dog had some issues with an anal gland years ago. It was secreting some fluid or something. I can't quite remember the details. I've tried to forget. But the smell. It made dog farts smell like roses.

Oh shit (literally) - I forgot about the anal glands. She doesn't have a problem now, but for YEARS my now 14 year old would secrete this AWFUL stuff. I'd take her every month or so to get them expressed, but she still did it. I tried expressing them myself once - there we were, her in the tub, me with a rubber glove. She just gave me a "Please, no" look and I couldn't do it. My other 3 pugs have no problems and she hasn't had any in about 3 years. It does have a "unique" smell because it never touches the poop when it's secreting on its own.

A dead rat in the air ducts in my buddy's house in the middle of summer (over 100 degrees outside) smelled pretty goddamn bad. It took a few days to get it taken out..

nope....cat piss and shit has it beat...my cat pissed in one of the bathtubs and the ONLY thing that helped get rid of the smell was straight bleach...nothing else worked.
