Have You Ever Bought Drinks For A Celebrity?

So me and Cameron from Mark's Bookmark/Teeniesxxx were out at the Blue Jay game tonite versus the Detroit Tigers. Cam as per usual as the most unbelievable hookup with tickets and we are sitting in his season tickets on the first baseline in reclining seats in the front row. LOL!

Anyways so I am sitting there admiring the view and the best seats I have EVER sat in for a baseball game and who comes to sit down 5 seats beside us. Four Toronto Maple Leaf Players (Colaiacovo, Wellwood, Stajan and White). They are sitting in worse seats than us mind you LOL!

So anyways being the big leafs fans that we are we send over a round of beers to the leafs (the seats we are sitting in have waitress service).

So we send the beers over and not even an acknowlegement or thank you...

So anyways we don't really care too much but these guys actually have to cross our seats to get to the aisle to go to the washroom. So Cam starts making wisecracks as they go by LOL!

Anyways the guys were cool and they signed a couple of balls for us but to be honest they were not very social.

Anyone else have situations where you have sent a round of drinks or a bottle to a celebrity and have got little or no response/thank you?

If someone buys me ANYTHING I always make sure I take the time to say thank you, but then again I am not a hockey player in Toronto LOL!

I don't like to do anything special for any sort of celebrity (unless it gets me laid of course). I don't often get starstruck and if I did I wouldn't show it. I refuse to feed egos.

I'm from Toronto and hockey players in Toronto are like fucking rock stars... Paris Hilton, Brad Pitt or George Clooney could walk by and I would'nt flinch but if Matts Sundin walked by I would grab my blackberry and start taking pics LOL!

I used to write for a music magazine and met a lot of musicians. Some of them were very cool, others were kind of dicks. One of the coolest ones I ever met was Neil Young. Met him after a show he did with Pearl Jam. I was covering the show for the magazine and when I offered to buy him a drink he smiled and said, "Nah, I don't want you writing that I'm too cheap to buy my own. " We had a good laugh at it.

I once had super hot Liz Phair kiss me too. . . I was so shocked I just stood there stunned. That is still one of the dumbest nights of my life. :)

Neil Young is the fucking MAN!

One of my favorite musicians, nothing is better than listening to Harvest Moon up at my cottage sitting on my dock in the evening.

Nothing better in the world man :)

DH, im swedish and hockey is probably the biggest sport in sweden just because we know a little about it.

I must ask you, as a maple leaf fan, what do you think maple leafs should do with mats sundin? Let him go?

Do you think mats sundin has done great for maple leafs the past years?

Matts is our best player every year, every game. Trade him? Hell no.

I dont follow all Maple Leafs games just because they air the games the wrong hours for us in europe.

But i do read the reports and stuff and i read some hockeyforums, some people say "let him go, we need new blood" etc etc.

Something needs to be changed in Maple Leafs, maybe mats sundin?
Just want to hear :-)

These seats include free food and drinks (non-alcoholic). They are also in the very front row and are not the piece of shit metal seats the regular seats are made of. They actually recline :)

My ticket shows a $182 face value...

If you can get the same seats for $27.50 please let me know because I will buy a dozen season tickets right now LOL!

These seats aren't even available thru the box office. And the row behind the "in the action" seats which are the normal blue plastic seats are still like 65 bucks. Where did you get this price of 27.50?

Let me first pre-face this by saying I LOVE the Swedes! One of my best buddies is a Swede! :thumbsup

Matts has been great for the Leafs but to be honest we should have traded him 3-4 years ago when we could have gotten something for him. Now he's what 38-39? We can't get shit for him now and I doubt he would want to leave Toronto unless it's to a team that can get him a stanley cup.

I think the leafs should have dumped him a while ago but it was only because we could have traded him back then for some great players we could have builded upon.

God knows heads will roll in the offseason because Toronto doesn't take missing the playoffs lightly.

DH

P.S. I hope they get rid of Raycroft and John Ferguson Jr first!

onlineriches 04-12-2007 09:48 PM

I'm just kidding, but most Jay's tickets are dirt cheap. $2 for garbage tickets on tuesdays.

Hey, there is no shame saying what you did.
But, there are ofcourse people who would disagree with you.

Peters forsberg and Mats sundin might have to step back and face it, age has caught up.

I was at the bar at Mastro's in Beverly Hills and Emmit Smith walked up next to me. Didn't buy him a drink because that motherfucker is rich :)

Digipimp 04-12-2007 10:18 PM

i never cared about autographs or celebrities so im not sure why anyone would want to buy someone drinks for being a celebrity and then expect a response.

any celebrity i ever met, i just said hey i enjoyed your music or good game or whatever and left it at that pretty much.

Porno Dan 04-12-2007 10:22 PM

I have promoted and hosted many events at nightclubs, owned bars and now am partners at a restaurant/bar in Baltimore. As a result I have partied with numerous famous people. I will just leave it at that.

My dad was Jack Wagner's junior high football coach (Washington, Mo) and the school superintendent when Troy Aikman was in high school (Henryetta, OK). They both play golf, so we've bought each other beers when I run into them at alumni and booster club golf tournaments

I love Harvest Moon, but I think my favorite is his Unplugged album. His acoustice version of Cortez the Killer gives me the chills every time I hear it.

I got a good buddy that is high up in the Florida panthers. So anytime I wanna hit up a hockey game, we have some sick ass seats. The better part of the hookup is the press passes, he gets us passes to go down and meet the players. I swear by now I have met half of the nhl, i just recently started taking my camera down there.

Chris pronger is cool as fuck, i hassled him that thanks to him I lost my yahoo hockey pool for the week and he told me to wait a sec, walked back into the dressing room, came out and gave me his stick. What was even more cool, was he had just scored the Game winning goal against florida with a slapshot from the point and broke the heel of the stick on the shot that won the game. It now sits in my living room.

Mark, don't feel bad, think about who they are and what happens to them everywhere they go. Everyone knows who they are and everyone is constantly bothering them. If they stopped and talked to everyone that bought them a drink or tried to speak to them they'd be exhausted. Sometimes they just wanna go out and chill and be normal like everyone else. It really is no offense to you or anyone else.

I have a lot of friends who are "famous" and they just wanna be like everyone else. They wanna go to a game and enjoy it like you do.

Granted, they are hockey players and they just got knocked out of the playoffs, and it comes with the territory but they are just like you and I, small town boys who just happened to play the game well and get paid well. I'm sure they were grateful for the beers but they just really prolly wanted to chill and didn't mean anything by it. :)

Biggy 04-12-2007 11:55 PM

I bought Nas & Kelis shots in Hollywood a few months ago. Was eating at a restaurant and they came in - I sent over some shots of hard liquor.

No acknowledgement, but I think that is to be expected. I'm sure they run into this type of stuff everywhere and probably prefer to be left alone.

D-Money 04-13-2007 09:48 AM

Normally I don't care to go out of my way to buy them drinks unless they're performing at a Players Ball and I HAVE to buy them drinks according to their rider. So contractually speaking, I do it all the time.

BUT..

There was this one time I went to a Lakers game and had awesome seats near the floor. About 100 feet away from me was Dr. Dre sitting with Jay-Z.

So I told the guy serving my drinks to go over to them and tell them that "D-Money from the Players Ball wants to buy their next round". They looked over to me while they were giving their drink order, so I waived and they waived back. Then, during the half, the American Cannibal brother of mine wanted to walk close to the action, so we introduced ourselves and they thanked me for the drinks. Which was cool, I didn't think they'd even mention it.

Now, why did I do it? Because every year they get a bid from me to perform at the Players Ball, so I knew they would know from my event. And since it's a goal of mine to have these guys bless us with a performance one day, I wanted to keep my name and event fresh in their head.
