When is someone going to create a pill so you don't have to sleep ?

I don't want to take speed, so no need to make the drug comments.

I wish someone would create a pill that would give your body / mind whatever it needs that it gets from sleep, and not make you sleepy so you could work 24/7 without having to sleep and your body wouldn't suffer from it.

If I could work 24 hours a day, the shit i could get done. Either that or I need to clone myself.

Imagine the productivity that would go up if people didn't have to sleep. Sleep should be a luxury not a necessity. I feel that way about food. I should eat when i want to enoy it, other times, just pop a pill and give my body everything i need. And when are we going to come up with something so I don't need to use toliet paper to wipe my ass. In 4,000 years we have evolved from not using anything, to using leaves to using toliet paper. You think we would have fixed that one by now.

While you're at it, throw in a pill that makes it not necessary to breathe.

Sleep is a very important process, both for our physiological and psychological well being.

what is wrong with breathing ? it's involuntary doesn't interfere with anything.

all i am saying is that it would be nice if it was an option. If i wanted to stay up for a week straight without harming my body I wish I was able to do that, then if I wanted to take a nap to for the sake of enjoying it i could do that when i wanted to. If you can't handle it in the head, than you wouldn;t have to do it.

Ive used it before, its pretty amazing, can stay up for days with very little side effects. I used it one week and stayed up for 4 days straight the only side effect I got was on like the third day I got a headache(wasnt too bad just a nagging one) but I took something for that too and it went away. Went to sleep on the eve of the fourth day and woke up about 10 hours later feeling just fine.

Think of it this way though: if everyone did that and worked 24 hours a day, you wouldn't get any further ahead of them than you do right now as everyone would be advancing at the same rate still.

thats like 90%+ of the population. Even the ones with one, will wind up tapping into and using it up for a house or car or because they get laid off at some point.

Typically people have a live for today and worry about tomorrow later attitude, which might be fun when you are in your teens, early twenties, but I am sure it sucks if you succeed at living to a nice old age just to kick yourself for not having invested money or worked more when you were younger. I wonder how many people here will be greeting people at walmart 60 years from now.

You give people too much credit, if this drug was available, most of the people who would use it would do so, so they could party more etc... i doubt very many people in this world are actually looking to work more. Think of it this way, if people never sleep imagine how much your sales would go up x how many more hours of work you get in, it would be expodental.

rowan 03-18-2007 11:49 PM

Interesting that it's prescribed for obstructive sleep apnea... I guess it's because the person feels fatigued and lethargic all day.

I wouldn't mind being able to pop a pill occasionally and go another 12-24 hours without sleep, but I'd be concerned about the long term effects.

I may or may not have slept in between.... does that count?

Bake 03-19-2007 01:14 AM

Yeah that works great when you have a pile of money fall into your lap. :upsidedow Most of us have to actually work to make the money to invest in the first place.

No, getting drunk and passing out of 5 days is for another thread.

Its not the passing out that worries me - its the 6 packets of cigs that I went through while I was unconcious that causes me more concern.

I'd love to buy such a drug!

I totally agree on the pill for nutrition, then eat for pleasure when the mood strikes.

Sleep when dead, but like government, it is a necessary evil ;)

AsianDivaGirlsWebDude 03-19-2007 03:32 AM

I'll have plenty of time to sleep when I'm dead...

You hire 10 dirt cheap motherfuckers from another country and they will work 240/70/3650!

V_RocKs 03-19-2007 03:52 AM

Or 9 with 16 on and 8 off....
144 hours a day
42 days a week
2190 days a year...

You really have to get some employees so you can retire.

rowan 03-19-2007 10:02 AM

I don't necessarily want to work more, but on the odd occasion I would like to be able to complete a project without fizzling out and making silly mistakes in the last hour before I finally give it up and go to bed......

I have a young kid and 2 cats, and I'm a light sleeper, so my time in bed isn't exactly "quality" either :(
