best temp to serve a 96' Cabernet?
no idea what i'm doing with wine...all i know is its in my collection & I'm out of beer :pimp
|
58 degrees.
|
room temp, or 60 - 68 F
|
room temperature it is!
|
has kind of a vinegar taste to it....wtf?
|
should taste great, 10 years is good aging.
|
i prefer my red's around room temperature.
white's slightly chilled, but not cold. what kind of glasses are you using for the caberet? i usually prefer bordeux or goblet style glasses for caberet. gives it room to breath. |

I'm drinking it straight out the bottle....cmon smack :pimp
|
Yup room tem. Let it breathe for a good 20 mins.
|
haha, well there is your problem. you gotta let red wines breath before drinking them.

Also you should check as some reds are meant to be served below room temperature, but not chilled. You need to research it, but that's what I remember.
|
ok it tastes a "little" better now that i've poured it into a glass,...i'll let it "breathe" for 20 mins

Pour it in a glass, let it set for 5 - 10 min, might help also. |
give it a few good swirls in a nice wide glass.
take a sniff to check out the nose of the wine. if it smells good, give it a sip, if not, give it another swirl and let it sit and breath for a second. |
ok....all "wine gods" information aside...if it has gone past its prime
whats the worst that can happen drinking it?....I'm out of beer here... |

Ha ha ha
Enjoy! |
mmmmm now this shits good!...no vinegar taste at all
not too sweet....but just about right maybe even cheap wine gets better after 11 years? |

white wine generally doesn't need to age. Lasting over 10 years for a white it pretty good. |

this kind of reminds me of the Seinfeld episode with the royal wedding cake :1orglaugh only its a redneck with multiple bottles of old ass wine :pimp |
room temp; ~68 let it breath for about 15 minutes before pouring. make sure the glass is big enough for you to get a nosefull of the aroma first! Enjoy my man!
|
All these wine experts. LOL
A '96 Cabernet needs to breathe at least an hour, but it sounds like it's too late. Too bad. :) |

Ya, so if you ever want to enjoy this wine at a restaurant, call them at least an hour early so they can open it for you and let it breath for an hour. :1orglaugh :1orglaugh :1orglaugh |
Boiling. on top of a pheasant with some herbs and stuff. Mmmm..."coq" au vin.
|
yea its an hour later, it still tastes like vinegar
however, the beringer 1996 tasted like gold....now im moving to the next bottle i'll let you know about this 2000' bottle here in a minute! i love wine!...(for the moment anyways) if i wake up with a headache, you guys are all on my shit list! hahahaha |
