I have lost 5kgs this week

The past few years I have really battled with my weight. In my early 20s I was very fit and worked out in the gym 7 days per week and was very healthy, I will post some pictures of me in my early 20s as soon as I get a scanner.

Reason for my weight problems stems from a sleeping problem that I had been suffering the past few years, I was basically sleep deprived for many years, a problem that I am slowly fixing.

To help with my sleeping problems I need to get back to my normal weight then I won?t have any sleeping issues.

Sunday night I started my diet of just fruit and vegetables and water ? Nothing else and I have dropped 5kgs in 4 days.

I will keep you posted.

shahab6 02-21-2007 10:13 PM

thats good, start running too.

baddog 02-21-2007 10:14 PM

I can imagine that trying to sleep where everything is upside down must be very difficult.

Congrats on the weight loss.

Congrats Batts!

LiveDose 02-22-2007 12:30 AM

Good start. Be careful with too much fruit though, a lot of sugar.

Bods4Mods 02-22-2007 12:38 AM

Great start bro - i realized today i lost 10 lbs myself!

bobby666 02-22-2007 12:59 AM

am sure there will follow more kilos, congrats on your result

Doctor Dre 02-22-2007 01:24 AM

This isn't a good diet dude. Loosing weight too fast isn't god for you and you'll regain it as fast as you lost it.

Are you kidding, i am feeling so much better.

WarChild 02-22-2007 04:19 PM

This really isn't a good diet. Depriving your body of proteins, calcium and amino acids is just not a good idea. Try to eat a more balanced diet. You really shouldn't be losing more than 1 - 1.5 kilos per week.

Jakke PNG 02-22-2007 04:24 PM

I got your 5kg's and someone elses too. This seems to happen to me a lot, people lose weight and I get it. Thanks a lot. I hope people start to lose money soon and I get that too.

You need to get protein otherwise you will lose you muscles before your fat.
I am way overweight and at the moment I am on a powder diet with 800 calories a day but it has all the proteins and minerals needed so you loose fat instead of muscles.

Katinka 02-22-2007 04:37 PM

Way to go!! But throw in some meat too. The proteins are very important!

Attempting to lose it too quickly will just put a strain on your system, and when you try to return to even very conservative normal eating habits, your body will pack the weight back on double fast.

Starvation diets don't work in the long run.

Further, fruit based diets are often not very good for you, as fruits can be high in sugars which will trigger high insulin reactions, which can actually make it harder to lose weight.

I lost 30 pounds doing a modified Atkins style diet, without losing any strength, and without feeling like I was killing myself to get there. Before you starve yourself thin, get information and consider the longer term implications.

5kg is a hell of a lot to lose in a week and sustain. Of course, this is only with a tiny understanding of the metric system. 2.2 lbs per kilo or so?

BradM 02-22-2007 05:39 PM

What everyone else said. Your methods will catch up to you. Balance your diet out dude.

Angelo22 02-22-2007 05:42 PM

Here comes the thing, that clueless idiots dont know. Im not saying you are one, just keep this in mind.

You can lose a shitload of weight with working out and just eat dark bread and water. However, once you start eating "normal" food you will gain weight.

LOL You can lose much more weight snorting that crap...

JD 02-22-2007 06:55 PM

be careful man.... on a fruit/veggie only diet for every kilo 30-40% will be muscle and that's BAD.

If nothing else start drinking 2-3 protein shakes daily with your veggies n shit. hit me up if you want a really good protein shake that's got 55grams of protein per serving and only 260 calories :winkwink:

J. Falcon 02-22-2007 07:23 PM

Try complementing your diet with a jog every now and then.

lorine 02-23-2007 03:03 AM

A healthy died combined with lots of exercises should do the trick.Good luck !

Cyrano 02-23-2007 03:24 AM

You'd be better of consuming a healthy, rounded diet and exercising strenuously.

The first 8 days of The Fat Smash Diet by Dr Ian Smith (the guy from the Celebrity Fit Club show) consists of eating as much as you want but only fruits and vegetables. He refers to it as the detox phase of the diet. After that each phase has a modified menu. I have the book but haven't actually tried the diet out, although I have heard a lot of good feedback on it.

Its amazing, i feel like a different person.:thumbsup

Enema 02-23-2007 04:11 AM

Diets are not the answer, you don't just "hop on a diet" for a while then go back to normal when you've hit your ideal weight.

Mister, you need to make a lifestyle change, now and forever.

Will all due respect, no you really don't. From saying you hit the gym 7 days a week, without taking at least one rest day to insisting that eating only fruit and losing 5KG in a week is a sustainable weight managment option, all indications are that you really don't know what's going on.

Depriving your body of proteins and other necessary nutrients is just insane. You're going to be losing what little muscle you probably have at a surprising rate. If you're over 30 like me, putting that back on is going to be even harder after the fact.

I'm sorry, but I can't see any professional anywhere ever recommending this approach. But hey, it's your life ... but it'll make a good story at the gym later today. :winkwink:

Agreed. When I was on a military training program they suggested well balanced diets and rest days. 5 days absolute MAX. They actually suggested 4 hard days and 1 take-it-easy cardio day.

Batts: No offense because I like you but your approach is flawed and you're going to be super depressed when you see your health go down to tubes, start losing hair and gaining weight out of nowhere.

djroof 02-23-2007 10:35 AM
