ok, pimpshost posted about us not paying cologroup, now our side of the story:

Before cologroup our traffic was (400k/day) with 4-5mbps bandwidth and 99.9% uptime as everywhere.

With Cologroup, because of their greed and ignorance/stupidity of their main tech (Myles) our traffic during the time with them went down to 40k/day... BUT our our bandwidth usage jumped to a magical 40-50bmps... and they couldn't give us any explanation what was using the bandwidth, we installed server logs, these showed 4-5mbps, but they said it's 40mbps, so they sent us $2300 bill - our logical answer to that would have been: "Go Fuck Yourself".


Cologroup Fucking Customers
Our tech's guess was that they're just fucking people and transferring data between 2 servers in their facility, this way it won't cost them any bandwidth and clients would have to pay a fortune for nothing. Remember, our server logs still showed real traffic which was 10 times lower than of their MRTG stats.


Inexperienced Tech Support
They're tech installed us a second server, we asked for both servers to have a separate system, but their tech insisted on balancing - as both servers were in different facilities the balancing also costed us about 5000GB's of bandwidth, then it comes out the balancing was set up wrong and it was corrupting all our files. So all our client info and pages were fucked.

Why we didn't pay them?
I told Jason (cologroup), that we didn't use the bandwidth your stats show, we can proove it and we won't pay for it.
After showing all the proof to him, he decreased the bill from $2300 to $1000.

Our actual bill was around $600, so i asked what's the extra $400 for? Jason said: "tech support", basicly i had to pay them extra $400 for their tech fucking up our business and causing us loads of downtime, would you have paid?

What Now?
Now we're hosted with Cari.net, we believe in the honesty of this company and we've paid them up front, we're currently using 1mbps of bandwidth, which is in correct accordance with the traffic.

Conclusion
ColoGroup fucked with us and we fucked back with them!

Just curious, do you run a TGP? If not and you're serving images and doing 400k users per day, then you're doing around 40mb-50mb.

400k/day hits at peaktime, it was 4-5 mbps average, average traffic was about 200k/day, that's 40GB/day (on the highest day!), that's 1200GB per month / 300 = 4mbps

everyday i'm reading something bad about paidhostiing, that's why i host everything on terra. Whenever i called them for support they didnt charge me anything. They are real pro.

I have no idea about this thread, but I have seen badly configured bandwidth stats that wrongly show internal traffic as part of your billable bandwidth. If you do a lot of copying between machines (for backups for example) or if you're running a database server, or anything like that, it can make a huge difference.

Again, I have no clue about this specific case, I'm just saying I've seen that happen in the past.

Why I posted the reply to cologroup's message about calling us cheats.... I've been in the biz since 1996, that's almost 8 years, i run everything from dialer companies, casino's, paid hosting, free hosting, sponsor programs, even AVS, in 2001 I got fucked from my uplink and paid my webmasters out around $8,000 from my own pocket, so it really pisses me off when someone says i cheated them.

I've made mistakes, learned from them, and trying to run my businesses the best i can.

Why did you use cologroup if you run your own paid hosting?

I chose cologroup for the free hosting business because of cheap CogentCo bandwidth they offered, didn't have that with my uplink.

Jason said King Host also hosts with them - King Host switched at the same time I did, so i transfered my sites from one server to them to give them a try.

Out of 200 servers, you seem to be the only one who has had a problem with the Bandwidth Graphs. Your traffic went from 1 Mbps to 80 MBps during a period of 24 hours, and no matter what we did, your servers will still fucked because they where maxed out.

Can you explain the bad Credit Card? Or the fact you promised to pay 10 times and I still see nothing? You are simply a scam artist and took advantage of our services and openess to work with you. Read the ICQ and try and re-explain yourself you crook!

About 4 weeks ago half the board is bitching about cologroup downtime on virtual accounts. Things get fixed and everyone is starting to cool off, when today their servers are down 12 hours. 12 HOURS!!!!!!
Unless a mad man went into their data center with an Ak-47 and starting shooting the place up, their is no excuse for such downtime.
That downtime would cripple many sites.

seems it wasn't a misconfiguration in the MRTG stats after all, you were trying to rip us off - Our client never did more than 7000 hits/day, at best he used 3GB of traffic in total, so he wasn't the cause of the traffic and you just started running in-facility traffic thru our stats to make the bandwidth bill bigger.


Regarding delaying you with payment - we were trying to switch our sites to another host without you shutting us down and we getting downtime, but couldn't because everything was always fucked up. A week after you got things finally up we switched asap, it takes 3-4 days to flush out old IP's from internet.

Riddle me this - why is it that when we finally installed our bandwidth monitoring software the bandwidth fell from 50mbps to 3mbps, as soon as i told you about it?

Sorry buddy, that is not true. One customers server had a specific problem that lasted 12 hours, and we had a seperate router problem this morning. All got fixed. Also, only half of our customers went offline, because the 1:30 minute outage was in SD and did not effect LA.

If you're hosted with cologroup - you should try putting your server on cari.net (the company cologroup is reselling for), your bandwidth usage will probably decrease 10 times.

You switched the sites off our network. Your where playing games and you just admitted it.

Why would I have given you an additional server?.... that cost me $2000 if you where not pushing traffic? I did it because you agreed you where pushing a lot of traffic and would pay. You are a theif.

And yes, you can go to cari.net, but they do not know how to admin servers. Good luck with them! All they do is reboots, plus you have to commit to lots of bandwidth much like rackshack does. Also, they dont have comparable machines. Do you like hosting on a cobalt?

I can pay my bills and you are the one with the problem. I have over 200 dedicated servers and not one customer thinks I am screwing them over but you. And you are the one who cant pay your bill.

Picking cari as your next hosting company was your mistake. You obviously did not take into account that we are there biggest customer.

Here is the graph of one of the servers, BSD82. The bandwidth drops off after week 24 because we switched his sites to BSD90.
