Spammer takes it in the shorts
|
Good. Maybe this will scare our spamming friends at GFY who think spamming is a legitimate way to make money. You know those handful of guys we have here that admit to spamming.

AOL is against spam?!
HAHAHAHAHAHA! When they find out *someone* has been sending around unsolicited CD-ROMs (and before that, floppies) by snail mail to almost everyone in the western world in their name, they are gonna be pissed! |
lol Unlike snail mail, AOL bears the cost of mailing the material to you. Unlike snail mail, you can easily chuck in the trash junk mail.
Compare that situation with having flooded mail servers, raped email relay systems, and pissed off email recipients that have to manually delete emails that bulk spam guards missed. Quote:

It really would be nice if companies like AOL or Earthlink communicated with sponsors in ways other than lawsuits though.
If we ever get a spam complaint from AOL or Earthlink it's always from the surfer....not AOL who actually has a "Notify AOL" button on their email client. That's where bulk of the complaints would go instead of to us leaving us in the dark because AOL is too stupid to forward that complaint to the sponsor. Then 4 years later they sue you for it. (Think CEN) |
actually Earthlink won because "Khan" didn't show up to court....
|
and isnt that usually a sign of guilt?
|
Cases where defendants don't show and a default judgement is entered rarely become precedents so I wouldn't get too excited about it. I hate telemarketers even more because they waste my time. Should I start suing people for calling me? I didn't solicit their call, they are tying up my phone, and wasting my time. Hmmmm, maybe I have a case.

The reason I posted the link is that companies are beginning to really crack down on spam. Also...spam in California and private attorneys will go after spammers both for enforcement AND attorneys fees. |
Depending on how harrassing they are, there maybe an FCC regulation they violated. Visit the fcc site and see if you can file a complaint. Punishment is probably a fine. If there is fraud, probably time in federal prison too.
