I thought it was a cat (pics)

I was taking Buddy out for his nightly walk when he stopped and stared up at the roof of my house. I looked up, and in the dark, thought I saw a cat. Then, noticed there were two of them.

As my eyes adjusted, I realized they were raccoons, and that there were three of them. I went in the house to grab my camera, and grabbed a few shots.

I know for you country bumpkins, a coon is no big deal, but we don't get a lot of them around here . . . although my house seems to attract all kinds of varmints: possums, squirrels, skunks, and now coons.

Nice, get the 22lr out, lol.

Around here having them around your house at this time of year means there is a good chance they are chewing a hole into your house to stay warm.

squeezeboobs 11-21-2006 11:44 PM

Coons!! !!

Frightened? you could have fooled me.

Every time I approached this guy, he stood up. I got within 15-20' of these guys, and they didn't look too worried.

HAPPYPEEKERS 11-22-2006 12:00 AM

they have a special nack for getting into any trash and making huge messes.. Thousands of them here in Arkansas..
I hate hate hate coons....

What we have always done was backed them into a corner.. grabbed them by the tail and put them in a trash can..with a lid.... then took them to the country and dropped them off..

they are not the nicest things in the world either.. they have big sharp teeth and will bite and hiss .. just distract him and grab his tail.. Arkansas coons will also kick your dog or cats ass.. they are mean mean little monsters.

no doubt..........they have massive gang fights here with opossum's all the time... the coons are master tacticions, send in raiders from the side to draw out the guards then the rest of the crew makes a dash for the opossum babies....

I am sorry, but "big sharp teeth" and "backed them into a corner" was not something my pappy raised this boy to do.

Back them into a corner with what? A truck?

ummm, not so much. If they were on the ground, perhaps, but with the height advantage I am not so sure.

Bro Media - BANNED FOR LIFE 11-22-2006 01:15 AM

coons rock... everyone hates them because they rip garbage open, but they are just looking for something to eat

i had the privilege of getting to be up close and personal with a few coons that were hurt and got helped getting healthy by a local animal shelter and they got used to humans quick, pretty neat animals, act just like a house cat or dog would once getting used to people...

Przemek 11-22-2006 01:29 AM

We don't have such animals in our country ;) (but we have aurochs ;))

In the first two pictures they really look like cats.

Sarah_Jayne 11-22-2006 02:05 AM

CyberHustler 11-22-2006 03:10 AM

when I lived in florida I would throw my leftovers off my porch for them so they would stay out of my trash cans. It worked. They were really friendly and curious, but they get too comfortable too fast. They started scratching at my windows while we were eating dinner.

thebossxxx 11-22-2006 03:16 AM

candyflip 11-22-2006 08:17 AM

Was it garbage night?

SlamDesigns 11-22-2006 08:21 AM

I have raccoons all over my property. They run around and eat the cat and dog food that we leave out. The ones around here aren't afraid, some of them sleep on the steps in the daytime. As for grabbing one by the tail though...wtf is that guy smoking?

C_U_Next_Tuesday 11-22-2006 08:23 AM

I like to look at them but have has some nightmares when dealing with these critters and possums too. When I lived in FLA I had this coon that would block my way into the house when I would come home from work..needless to say the garbage cans were is home. That fucking thing would make me walk around the house to go in the other door..it would sit atop the garbage can and hiss and growl at me.. it was huge.

I had finally had enough of that fuckers bullshit and came home pissed one night..got out of the car with lighter fluid and a lighter and finally put an end to that fat bastard.

ImLost 11-22-2006 08:24 AM

it does look like a cat

Klen 11-22-2006 08:32 AM
