Simple script needed to execute simple mysql queries

PHP, perl, shell, whatever suits. I need a programmer to write me a script today. As mentioned in the title it shouldn't be very difficult.

What exactly do you need?

You can typically execute mysql commands from the shell by invoking the mysql tool.

Or does this need to be automated in some way?

I have a very tight php page for doing some basic thing and it's damn fast compared to using phpmyadmin.
