When did itunes music go from 99 cents to $1.69?

Seriously...a 70 cent jump??? I swear it was still 99 cents just a couple of days ago!

I see I may have to go back to stealing music :321GFY

seeric 11-01-2006 12:02 AM

yeah they can pretty much fuck off now. i'm not paying that much.

this will hurt their business model.

i used to buy like 30+ songs a month.

now instead of 30 bucks a month that would cost me 50+.

not gonna go down like that.

WWC 11-01-2006 12:03 AM

wow...what a jump...?

They changed it when they figured out that people are retards and will pay for mp3s. I have about 20 GB of music and Ive paid $0 per song. It wasnt worth it at .99 either.

Definitely. I buy stuff a few times a week and I just noticed it today. This is some utter bullshit.

I was looking for a remix to this Dinah Washington song, but I'll be getting it from somewhere else.

I can see increases of a few cents over time, but to jump a whole 70 cents is simply ass-raping their loyal customers

Horny Dude 11-01-2006 12:10 AM

What songs are you seeing 1.69, on there now and everything I search for is still .99?

OG LennyT 11-01-2006 12:25 AM

time to steal music again :)

So far, everything I've seen is $1.69...jazz, rap, rock...every category

Matt 26z 11-01-2006 12:28 AM

The music industry was pressuring them to do it. People download the few hit songs off an album instead of buying the whole album. This raise helps to make up for that.

May as well just download them from P2P instead. AllOfMP3 doesn't operate legally.

And I'm still seeing songs in iTunes for 99 cents.

Kimo 11-01-2006 07:38 PM

so did it go up or not?

marketsmart 11-01-2006 07:39 PM

Mine is showing $1.69 all over, so not sure why some of you still have the 99 cents. Enjoy it while you can I guess

LiveDose 11-01-2006 08:16 PM

Haven't been there in a while but hell if I'll pay that much for a digital tune ripped at 128kbs.

EmporerEJ 11-01-2006 08:16 PM

Maybe it's tied to the gasoline index?

it is a bit weird lately. I loaded the same page in itunes and it shows 0.99 Euros and I live in the US. :disgust

xclusive 11-01-2006 08:22 PM

Damn 70 cent jump is crazy. Should have at least bumped it a little every month.

Those songs are all .99 for me.

Maybe cuz you have a PC they are charging you more. :1orglaugh

Hotrocket 11-01-2006 08:23 PM

I just checked and everything I saw was .99 cents

Trixie 11-01-2006 08:24 PM

Still 99 cents on Napster!

But yeah -- if they bump on there, too, I'm going to buy less music. At $1 a song it was easy to justify buying every single ditty I wanted. On the other hand, I think a song is worth more than a king size candybar so anything less than $2 is fair.

nofx 11-01-2006 08:26 PM

music is free

LOL @ yer dumbass for paying for it. suckers.

Nah...it's cause I'm black :winkwink:

If they are raising the prices this much, I might buy a few more shares of AAPL. They've got too many people hooked who will continue to buy. Hell, some people might not even notice it for a while.

MetaMan 11-01-2006 08:39 PM

Artists do not deserve a fucking dime, if your CD is good i will go out and buy it, stop producing this cookie cutter crap and people will pay for your music.

MandyBlake 11-01-2006 08:44 PM

I see 8.00Kr to buy a song. weird.

Digipimp 11-01-2006 08:47 PM

the prices didnt go up, they had some system problems and it was loading other countries stores. just go to the itunes store, scroll to the bottom and set your shit back to the proper country. it's still 99 cents in the US

Go to the main page of the iTunes store, scroll down to the bottom and make sure you have USA selected as your country. The price you're seeing is for Australian iTunes.

That's my point. Why bother paying a site to steal for you when you can do it yourself.
