Or build another custom whitebox pc.
I have a 2000.00 limit just for the PC don't need a monitor.

There ya go Be under 2000.00 The ram link you can double up on and get 4gb so you are ready for 64bit os. Plus you'll have some money left over for anything else you might wanna add on.

BitAudioVideo 10-25-2006 11:32 AM

2000 is high, dell is crap, newegg!

Theo 10-25-2006 12:19 PM

What's the best way to spend it? Last system I built was a 2.53 Ghz plain old P4, so I am a little out of the loop when it comes to this newer stuff.

madawgz 10-25-2006 01:19 PM

DO NOT buy a fucking dell, please!

Mr Yazt 10-25-2006 01:40 PM

Buy a Sun box.

KMR Stitch 10-25-2006 01:52 PM

Well this pc must have 4GIGS of RAM . I am studying for my MCSE + Security

And I need to run vitural pc's Including Domain controlers and SERVERS/CLIENTS

each PC takes up 512mb's 4 pc's = 2 gigs + host pc = to run the rest

I am looking for the most for 2k.. THe only thing that has me is the RAM..and video cards.. I haven't messed with PCI-E before always AGP

sarettah 10-25-2006 01:55 PM

I'd buy a $500.00 barebones box and then spend $1500 on content (or beer...I always get those two confused)

MetaMan 10-25-2006 01:55 PM

75.00 for a hard drive? There are two in the links I put up. main one is for os

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136033

149.00 its 10,000 rpm 76GB raptor. The second is just a caviar for data dumping, and its 250gb 7200 rpm. For what I do I use stackable external drives for 85% of the data I have to store. And they run off a file server so I use the raptor to write to while doing any encoding, editing, etc. Then I move it all to the file server each night. What hard drive would you recommend? Raptor is one of the fastest commercial drives out there. My eternal drives are segate 400gb stackables. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148076

I add them as I need, and I keep a few 80GB externals laying around too.

That processor is the best bang for the buck out right now. Dollar for power nothing is touching it.

Toms hardware is your friend.

it's lacking on RAM and Sound card.. and the graphics could be better for the price

Klen 10-25-2006 04:35 PM

There is simply toomany components to pick the right one.

StuartD 10-25-2006 04:37 PM

I wouldn't have the system I have now if I had only spent $2k... plus I built my own system in order to not pay the manufacturer costs.

Doctor Dre 10-25-2006 04:39 PM

If you aren't a gamer and don't need a big video card you can get a good system in the 1.2 - 1.4k range...

Custom build it with OEM parts... always the best option.

brand0n 10-25-2006 04:40 PM
