do you think you should be able to "do as the govt. does" instead of "do what the govt says"?

what i mean by this is, if the govt can spy on its people in "the interest of national security", shouldnt i be allowed to spy on people in the interest of my personal and national security? this would include: wiretapping, using any means (legal or illegal) to gain access to a persons personal and financial information, etc..

personally, i think anything the govt is allowed to do, i should be allowed to do as well. if they can circumvent the law and in the US's case, the constitution, why shouldnt i be allowed to do the same...

although i am a US citizen, i think this applies to all democratic countries..

has anyone ever read the constitution or the bill of rights? and i mean the whole thing? in a true democratic soceity, its the people that make the decisions, not the govt...

i am no tin foil nut, but i do believe that as a US citizen, we have given far too much power to the govt to make decisions for us that often go against the majority's beliefs of how our govt should be run...

i guess u didnt actually read the whole post. i am not into tinfoil or conspiracy's.. but i am into why i cant do what me elected govt officials do everyday...

what i really find amusing is the fact that everyone so far has decided to comment on the weather... then when the shit hits the fan like 2257, you all complain like the world is ending....

i guess this is whats the problem... reactive instead of proactive...

all i asked is that if people think they should be allowed to have the same latitude of law that the govt exercises...

i guess the mental apptitude of gfy is limited to "i'd hit that" and "congrats to the winners" threads...

Of course not. But in the same breath I say that the population shouldn't be complacent sitting on their asses watching Jeopardy and complaining about the state of things while letting the govt do as they please.

Citizens need to make the politicians accountable for their actions. This is something you don't see.
