Clear up with 2257, whats the problem??

Im not sure I get all these threads about ppl being scared and closing business with 2257.. Isnt 2257 the thing that says that models have to be 18 and over? Is there something else? Arent like 99% of producers already legit with that law? Was everyone shooting girls under 18 or what? What the big deal??:helpme

On the off chance that you are actually serious......

http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/h...7----000-.html

Read that, and then say this law is JUSt about models being over 18. 18+ is a given. We are legitimate porn people here. That is not the problem.
The problem is the fact that people who have nothing to do with hiring models or production can go to prison for CLERICAL errors, not for underage models.
The problem is that models' identifying information is available to way too many people now.
The problem is that maintaining the records now required by secondary producers-who have no contact whatsoever with the actual production of content-is a big amount of lost time and therefore money basically just copying information that was already kept in keeping with the first set of regs by the PRIMARY producer...the one who actually should be keeping these records.

So, tell me how making thousands of webmasters keep the same records already kept by the content shooters protects underage people from being in adult productions? Obviously it doesn't.

2256 defines minor and sexual explicit
2251 is about exploit and penalty
2257 is about record keeping requirement and penalty

Shortly, you can say 2251 is the "most" important one, and 2257 to self-ensure you don't break 2251.

2260 is about import and will affect foreign webmasters, but is not covering record keeping requirement.

Not to be rude, but the fact you don't even realize the impact on your business of what's going with the new laws says a lot about the problems with this industry right now.

People seem to think selling porn is as easy as opening a lemonade stand on your corner block.

Yeah, I understand that, but unless you live out of the US, you should not be in adult if you don't know these laws inside out. And even if you don't live in the US, so many adult companies/webmasters, etc do, that it will touch your biz in some way, so it's smart to know them. And if you don't WORK in adult, you probably shouldn't be here. But, on second thought, if people who vote in the US DID come here and ask questions like that, maybe they'd realize that we don't want to exploit kids. Porn does not equal child p*rn. Not even close.
