i like sports cars. you buy a sports car to enjoy it - not worry about it's fucking value 5 years from now. at that point, you buy a new one. |
kuntgratz - damn nice ride man =-)
|
lot of jealous mofos out there.. =P
grats dude =) that's a phat car! |

of course. Only on this board i heard cars as an investment. Purchasing a new car today and expect to have increased value in the future? Yeah right! Car investment can be for example a 60s Sunbeam where the manufacturing company closed for decades ago, not very few in good condition. You can get one with less than $3k and probably in 2 decaded claim a car with higher value and something you don't see in the road easily. 1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Coupe this car is fantastic and can be considered a serious investment, but how many cars exist like this?......very few http://www.supercars.net/cars/1955@$Mercedes-Benz@$300SL%20Coupe.html Even most of the ferraris of the last 2 decades are not considered an investment like in the past. Why? Because the production line of some models reminds VW Golf. |
your wife's gonna kill you, huh? =)
|
some cars appreciate in value after you buy them, but those have a 2-3 year waiting list anyway, usually run upwards of 200 mph and cost a nice bundle.

15 years from the time you bought it, it may become worth something, but extremely unlikely. waitiing lists mean nothing. i had to wait 6 months for my S2000. the lexus IS had a waiting list when it first came out. the MB sl500 has a long waiting list. So does the M3 convertible. same with the new lexus sc430. all will depreciate like a mutherfucker. then there is something call inflation... |
Ferrari is not such an exemption, contrary to what many people think. the only cars that will not depreciate are the ones that are not built in the thousands but in the tens and low hundreds. they either have to be ultra exotics like a McLaren F1 or Bugatti EB 16-4 Veyron, or something ultra-niche like a Morgan or a Bristol. In all other cases i'm afraid you're right. consolidation and standartization in the auto industry have done away with almost everything that's unique and interesting and => would appreciate in value after purchase (or at least not depreciate a lot).

The guy gets a 95 Explorer and makes a big deal out of it, good for you.
