again only let in the Disney channel and the weather channel.

When asked why the weather channel he replied, so they will know how
hot it's gonna be while they are working on my chain gangs.

He cut off coffee since it has zero nutritional value.

When the inmates complained, he told them, "This isn't the
Ritz/Carlton. If you don't like it, don't come back."

He bought Newt Gingrich' lecture series on videotape that he pipes
into the jails.

When asked by a reporter if he had any lecture series by a Democrat,
he replied that a democratic lecture series might explain why a lot of
the inmates were in his jails in the first place.

More on the Arizona Sheriff:

With temperatures being even hotter than usual! in Phoenix (116 degrees
just set a new record), the Associated Press reports: About 2,000
inmates living in a barbed-wire-surrounded tent encampment at the
Maricopa County Jail have been given permission to strip down to their
government-issued pink boxer shorts.

On Wednesday, hundreds of men wearing boxers were either curled up on
their bunk beds or chatted in the tents, which reached 138 degrees
inside the week before.

Many were also swathed in wet, pink towels as sweat collected on their
chests and dripped down to their pink socks.

"It feels like we are in a furnace," said James Zanzot, an inmate who
has lived in the tents for 1 = years. "It's inhumane."

Joe Arpaio, the tough-guy sheriff who created the tent city and long
ago started making his prisoners wear pink, and eat bologna
sandwiches, is not one bit sympathetic He said Wednesday that he told
all of the inmates: "It's 120 degrees in Iraq and our soldiers are
living in tents too, and they have to wear full battle gear, but they
didn't commit any crimes, so shut your damned mouths!"

I love that Sheriff. We need more like him. I applied for a job with his agency, I'm awaiting the call to go out and take their test and what not.

Another guy with a big ego and a small penis that was picked on as a small child. He will eventualy be sued and Maricopa county idiots that voted for him will pay the bill. I'm all for punishment but you don't keep guys outside when the heat index is 138. And 40 cents a day for meals is borderline starvation. This isn't 1406. if he's such a bad ass then why doesn't he go to Iraq?

So he's been doing this for years and people keeping coming into his jail. doesn't sound to effective to me. If his method worked his jail would be empty. Deterants actually deter people. Doesn't seem to be doing that.

I have seen the guy on t.v. he is a dick.. Most of his points above are pretty valid though. The problem is the justice system is fucked up and broken , so some asswipe steals 100 million and he does 2 years in club fed, and then some black guy gets caught dealing some crack to make a living because he cant get a job anywhere else and does 30 years with sheriff joe dickhead.

If the justice system was fair i see no problem with making prisoners work or pay for their meals , and they dont need smokes or cable t.v. or air conditioning

He wanted to pass a law to do random traffic stops with searches. A reporter onced asked if he has ever read the constitution and he replied with some smart ass remark. The guy is a total douche bag for many reasons.

Ok most guys aren't selling crack because they can't get a real job. Most want to be thugs and gangstas and live the thug lifesytyle.

Also JAIL is not PRISON. If your sentenced to 1 year or less you go to JAIL. If you are sentenced to more than a year you go to PRISON. JAIL is supposed to be for less serious crimes yet guys in PRISON in Arizona for rape, murder, child molesting get better treamnet than some guy who failed to pay his parking tickets because of Sheriff Dickhead.

Even if he has some good points - so did Hilter. The guy is a clear-cut imbecile of the type no self-respecting law agency wants around.

He is "known" in other countries as well - and just laughed at. Human trash like that demonstrates how to make a mockery of any justice system. Equally, it shows how pathetic the control mechanisms are that he even exists as a law officer.
