>>>>>>NEW Cell phone time AGAIN! Who has the Motorola Q or Treo 700w or XV6700?<<<<<<
Which do you have and do you like, love or hate them?
Anything buggy or quirky that keeps happening to them or are they stable? They all run on Windows Mobile 5.0 so have pretty much the same features although the weight, size, keyboards, talk-times, price, etc vary. Help me out here with some info, peoples! I need to pick up 2 phones by Thursday and these are my choices! |

The Treo is fucking amazing. My boss bought all the managers at my work one, they are awesome!

Then today he said he ended a call and noticed 30 minutes later that the phone hadn't actually hung up. he pressed end and it WOULD NOT end. Had to open it up and pull the battery out and reboot. Anything like that happen to you? When did you pick it up? |
well, all those choices suck 'cuz you still have to be with verizon. I was hyped about the Q, but since it's CDMA and verizon only, there's no way in hell I'm going that route. There should be a GSM version of the Q by the end of this year, but user opinions have been mixed anyways. The Q has no wifi or touch screen. :(
What I've been looking for is a phone that has a bad-ass mp3 player and camera. I've looked at virtually everything - the i-mates aren't bad (only available unlocked) and now the Nokia N series looks pretty fucking amazing. check out these bad boys: http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-3504_7-6217771-1.html The N91 has 4GB internal memory :eek2 mp3 player and 2 MP camera; the N93 has a 3.2-megapixel camera/camcorder with Carl Zeiss optics, the N92 has a TV tuner; most come with USB, bluetooth, wifi, Mini SD card slots and even 3G support (which will be great whenever the US finally catches up with the rest of the world) This is a pimp phone :thumbsup http://i.i.com.com/cnwk.1d/sc/31861311-2-200-0.gif |

Stick with the Treo. Once you go touchscreen & EvDo with the palm apps on the side you will never go back.

I have a T-Mobile Blackberry and the voice service eats balls and the web service is painfully slow! Verizon supposedly has the best coverage and speediest web service in the states ... what's your issue with Verizon? PLEASE - I want to know! |

Why is Palm OS better? |

Not to mention I use my Treo and PDANet to make a high speed data modem for my laptop for free. Yes, F R E E* *if you are already using the $15 unlimited data plan with Sprint |

I guess it's the lesser of MANY evils when picking a phone or service provider. There's price, customer service and reliability. Every cell company lacks in one or a number of areas and regionally there are differences within each company as well. T-Mobile SUCKS here SUCKS!!! i guess in FL they are pretty good. Internationally they are at the top of the heap too but here they SUCK!!! :1orglaugh And i hear Verizon has great support ... I'll pay for it - price isn't an issue necessarily :winkwink: LOL |

thanks for the info! :thumbsup :thumbsup |
Verizon gets great service in the U.S. period. People can say they use "old" technology which may be the case, but their phone coverage/call quality and EvDO access speeds cannot be beat. I'm going to upgrade my Razr soon to a Q or 700p. 700w looks sweet, but has been very buggy and a number of friends who own it always have to do hard resets because the OS freezes. Q is a smartphone though, which means it doesn't run Windows Mobile Pocket PC edition. It supports MS Exchange, but I think you need a 3rd party app to get it to push to the Q, like on a Blackberry.
Does anyone else have the Q? |

Verizon has 3g which goes by the name of EVDO and they are soon rolling out the next big bad thing. Actually all American providers with the exception of T-Mobile have 3G. So you're behind the ball a little bit. 3g is for data and isn't yet being used for voice. Providers and their respective 3g networks branded names. XV6700 looks very sexxyyy
|
I'm debating the same thing.
The guy at Verizon explained the difference between the two like this: The MotoQ is a phone with PDA capabilities. The Treo is PDA with phone capabilities. |

Palm now uses Windows Mobile...the 700w/700p are the first and second phones. |

BTW - I use my Nextel 3-4k minutes per month and I'm happy with the service and phone even thought it's a bulkt 3+ yr old phone. I've had the "flip" part replaced 3 times and the battery twice but it's the only phone that lasts throughout the day without draining on me and i know all the "drop spots" here in LA. Verizon has a 2 week trial period - I'm going to pick a phone and if the service is comparable or better - I'm just going to keep it and use the Nextel as the backup! |

Too bad I can't find a damn site that compares and contrasts all the providers here in Los Angeles. That would definitely help! |
I really like my Q so far... The treo is just too big for me...

the pimp hand needs to be massaged as well, this will keep the blood circulating properly. When pimp-slappin in excess, the blood circulation may be affected so massaging it periodically is ideal to keep the juices flowin
|
.....Nokia are the best!! :thumbsup
|
Windows Mobile is garbage, I bought a Treo 700p a couple weeks ago, just a few days after it came out and it's the shit!
|
Windows mobile is fucking awesome. I just got the 6700 about 2 weeks ago.
Wireless B, Bluetooth, aslo internet through the cell phone service. You can hook it up to your laptop as use as a modem too. So many dif apps and games you can get for it. I got a 2 gig memory card for it, and its awesome with windows media, can load a shitload of mp3s onto it and even movies. I am loving this phone to death. http://img144.imageshack.us/img144/5...kapache3ge.jpg |

It was time for an upgrade for me too, and I was seriously looking at the Q. For everything you want to know about Q go to: http://Qusers.com Although the hardware for the Q is great, I decided against it for the following reasons. 1) No real, instant "push" email... like the Blackberry. There may be a future solution IF your email is hosted on an exchange server. The VZEnail solution from Verizon is a kludge. 2) It runs Windows Smart Phone 5. Still a bit cluinky and lots of menus and clicks to do simple things. Can read some MS Office docs but can't change em. 3) Verizon's minimal plan is $80/month for 450mins and unlimited data. You need to commit to 2 years. Unlimited data does not include any SMS messages. 4) Pretty poor battery life.....not more than a day... if that. Instead I got this and I'm quite happy... http://www.discoverblackberry.com/pc...size/101_1.jpg http://www.discoverblackberry.com/de...Id=H0,C63,P101 Good luck. Lot of choices. Nothing is perfect. |

Talked to Ycaza yesterday and he said he only uses "voice activation" to place calls while driving because it's literally a pain in the ass to dial and he's afraid he'll kill himself or run someone off the road by accident LOL |
Can anyone explain to me how to set up email in advance. Before making a purchase I'd like to get an understanding for it.
I have 5 different email addresses now. If I want to receive them on my phone yet have a copy remain in Outlook too ... explain? |
Quote:
What I do is set up a forward and a mailbox for each address on my web/mail server. The message gets forwarded to my Blackberry e-mail where it is instantly pushed to my phone, and the message is also left on the inbox where it is pulled down at some point by Outlook. I'm not sure how you would do it on a Smart Phone since there is no push e-mail and there is only a pull. |

need to figure it out BEFORE getting the new smart phone! |
