http://www.motorola.com/Enterprise/c...d_05222006.pdf Good Technology provides true push but you need their software installed on the handheld and on an exchange server. There are a few hosted services like http://www.mailstreet.net/default.asp that provide it for another $20 per month... |
Am I missing something here or can't I just set up the Window's Mobile 5.0 version of Outlook to access my pop accounts the same way I do on my laptop or main work station?
Incoming / outgoing mail server user/pass etc OR do I HAVE TO HAVE and Exchange Server??? |

The bad news is that's not instant push, and it will eat your battery. Thats how regular desktop Outlook typically works with POP accounts. As I determined when I looked at this, there seems to be no simple instant PUSH solution for Windows Mobile with POP accounts..... |
Thanks, ronbotx

700w
They handle attachments well... where the Q does not according to the verizon rep I have verizon and would not change carriers |
If you want the best email solution signup for a MS Exchange account somewhere. I have the cingular version of the 6700.
I get 2 full days of battery on 1 charge, and and my phone syncs with my exchange server every 5 mins. Not only does it Sync my email, but my contacts and calendar are syncd also. My phone and my desktop always have the same info. And you get a web interface to exchange for when you want to check email from someone else's computer. On my desktop i leave my outlook open and my spam filter weeds out all the spam as it comes in. I only get clean email to my phone. My bro works for VZW in their product testing dept. He really likes the 700w and the 6700. He was very unhappy with the Q when he had it for 2 weeks of testing. I had the 6700 for a bit but the screen cracked the 1st week and they replaced it and then i returned it. I moved to Cingular since and the cingular version of that same phone is a bit better. Voice quality was better and not having the antenna on the phone made it a bit more user firendly. My bro who works with these phones all day said the Treo 700w is the best of the three. |

styles. i bought the Q last night. got an insane deal. 159 from verizon. cashed in all my loyalty discounts and got an instant web discount of 100 too. so it came down from 399 to 159 total. i also got the 1350 minutes anytime and the unlimited data for a total of 99.00 a month. can't beat that with a bat. if i need to i will upgrade the minutes. i am gonna give it a rigorous week of trials and if i dont like it im going to get the treo 700p. it was a toss up but i sacrificed the size. Q does everything i need it to. i can have icq, trillian, use it as a wifi connect for the laptop untethered, enterprise email, and web browser with high speed. well, as high speed as it gets. i'll let you know how it goes. verizon techs told me that since the release the new ones coming out now have the untethered wifi and the bugs addressed that some people have mentioned. so say the techs and not a sales person. we will see. i will drive that motherfucker hard for a week and let you know how it goes. peace airek |
