Why is windows XP so slow and buggy? HELP!
I have Windows XP running on a new comp - 1Gb p4 with 128Mb ram and it is sooooooooooooo sloooooooooooow simply opening programs and new windows, plus it crashes half the time I try and do anything? It has been like this since I got it 2 months ago?
Anyone know why this is or what settings I can alter to fix this problem? (besides format c:) :321GFY :helpme |
1gb P4?

Turn off the cartoon look, get ALL the updates as appartently they're not in a service pack until the legal stuff is sorted and all the latest drivers. Drivers are the worst offenders. You should then find it very stable.

winxp has been awesome for me, get more ram though, seriously. no reason not to shell out the $80 and go to 512.

1ghz P4 dont exist...
128meg is not enough for XP you probably bought one of the "sucker" P4. Low Mhz, low Ram, and SDRAM to boot... that sucks ass.... sorry... p.s. also, you cant upgrade... sucks eh? |
you need at least 256 to run XP smoothly....i just upped my shit to 512 RAM and this baby is smokin...

I am running 256 with an Athlon 650 ... and it runs pretty sweet ... unless I am downloading movies ... I have to constantly reclaim my RAM then ...
I am starting a BIG RED H server ... so I will be putting another 256 MBs in ... as well as a couple 100 GB hard drives on top of the 40 I already have ... I think I might go USB external drives :eek2 anybody have any good or bad stories about external high capacity USB drives ?? |
