Validus 04-20-2006 12:06 AM

I am not a big fan of getting passwords sent to me in plain text out of the bluehahaha8230; without an explanation (in the mail) why.

Violetta 04-20-2006 12:31 AM

I got 2 of that mail!

NyLoS 04-20-2006 12:42 AM

I can not login anymore, forgot my security question and they don't answer the phone. I will have to open I new account I guess

ok well heres the problem , they "lost?" a bunch of the passwords so nobody could get into their accounts..

people like me suggested that they should notify people BEFOREhand or reset their passwords automatically so people dont have to contact support to do it..

So really they did that as a favour to us after so many people complained..

No matter how you looked at it , you were going to have to reset the password anyways , so they saved you the step of having to contact them first..

Fizzgig 04-20-2006 01:29 AM

If you have problems logging into ePassporte please email [email protected] with the following information:
Account name,
Real name,
Address.
and ask them to reset your password.

just a punk 04-20-2006 03:07 AM

Very "nice". Seems they've sent us the new password to the old hotmail account which was deactivated because it wasn't used within over 30 days. :(

The password is sent to the email that were used to signup with.
If you no longer have access to it please contact me and include if you have a load card on the account, then I will email you the form to change your email.

I do understand that? what I am saying though is, I am not too big of a fan of getting plain text mails with passwords. I would have much rather have to contact epassporte than having my password sent through the world? or have the account locked and get a link where to change it (with security question or something).

Thinking about it now, it actually worries me a little. Passwords should be stored encrypted in the DB, if they aren?t? is my credit card number stored in plain text as well?

HairToStay 04-20-2006 04:43 AM

One of my acounts worked fine. The other I hadn't checked but I got the new pass email plus an email welcoming me to ePassporte with the Virtual Visa information, which I had actually never gotten before. Only took 9 or 10 months for it to arrive.

ServerGenius 04-20-2006 04:49 AM

To be honest I don't believe shit that they lost a bunch of passwords. That
would mean that they don't have a redundant system for storing passwords.
If they really don't then I wouldn't trust them with my money. Who knows what
they will "lose" next. (Actually I don't and never will trust them with my money)

Makes one think what they DO mean when they say we've lost
them......lost them to whom?

:2 cents:

evildick 04-20-2006 05:30 AM

I've already gone through the password change steps, and it worked yesterday. Now today when logging in it just seems to hang on the main page forever after I enter my username and pass. Fucking annoying.

same for me

Michael O 04-20-2006 05:41 AM

I got problems too and my account weren't affected by the password issue, please try again in 10-15 minutes..

white-rob-like-whoa 04-20-2006 05:41 AM

I got the same email and fuckin flipped, but no money was gone so I said fuck it.

HairToStay 04-20-2006 05:45 AM

Well, my password wasn't affected for my main account but gee, they reset it anyway. Just got the email 2 minutes ago, and can't log in -- it just hangs there. I had tried an hour ago to check my balance and could not get in either.

Michael O 04-20-2006 05:49 AM

Yep I got the new password too, I will ask them to look into it.

You have no reason to belief they're not encrypted just because they
generated a new one and sent it to you.
The plain text pass its an issue ofcourse and what you should do
is change it imediately.

What worries is me is their way of generating passwords Lddddddd
this is very easy to brute force and they dont have a limit of failed attempts
at least I didn't see it.

There is a limit then access to the account is blocked.

darksoul 04-20-2006 06:01 AM

is it down ?
wth, for such a financial institution why don't they get some slick dudes in there.

wyldblyss 04-20-2006 06:03 AM

my account has been fine, thankfully

stephane76 04-20-2006 06:04 AM

i received 4 of those emails, one after one, and none of the pass worked

Furious_Male 04-20-2006 06:06 AM

Yea it is just hanging now when trying to log in. No wonder half the programs are late sending out payments this week.

Michael O 04-20-2006 06:09 AM

DO NOT TRY TO LOG IN

Every time you do a new password is generated.
Its a temp script put in place for the people that had password issues so they didn't have to contact CS.

I will post when you can login again.

JOKER 04-20-2006 06:11 AM

I bet your mailserver loved that little action :winkwink:

Aight, I'll wait then.

What about those of us that didn't have password issues? I am just going about my normal business this morning and tried to log in once (it has been hanging for ten minutes now). Will my password still be changed?

Yes because of the script same thing happened to me.

Whoever coded that... oh well.

Don't you have a dev-setup to test scripts before they go live?!

Just wondering...

Oh man. Mine was set up by a sponsor so I have no clue what email address or password question they used either.

I was out out of the cluster fuck of a mess and now I got dragged in just trying to sign on. That really sucks :1orglaugh

Ok, I won't. The site won't even load for me though, so I have no choice.

Seriously, Keyser, Epass needs a few more people like you working for them (not being a smartass - I mean that).

Someone should have sent an email telling me not to log into my account. I shouldn't have to come to GFY to get support, news and updates.

The sponsor probably used the email you used to signup with them.

HairToStay 04-20-2006 06:23 AM

Uhh, Keyzer -- you say don't try to login. So we have to keep returning to GFY to see if you posted that it's safe to login, or else we get a new password?

Well, I would suspect that they got a development, staging, and productive environment? or not?

No Idea.

I just assume its a script that is setup for it would normally never auto generate a new password when a login fails.
The idea were good so people would not have to contact CS, but with the current downtime it back fired.

ajrocks 04-20-2006 06:26 AM

dot dot dot is this a joke? it doesn't work if it isn't a joke, this is getting our of hand. I've never seen such a bad fuck up and such a bad atempt at repairing the issue. You guys might as well go out of business now. Who is going to use you now?

Ok so once epassporte is back up I will most likely get an email to that address.

Ok thank you I will wait and see what happens.

Michael O 04-20-2006 06:27 AM

Try to login now with the last password you got.

If it don't work wait 5 minutes until you receive a new password then try again.
