YA it was such a fucking good domain name too. I knew this shit was going to happen again. I thought I learned my lesson from last time. Nasty I wrote a e-mail complaining to ICANN but I doubt they are going to do anything about it. I complained about an unfair advantage. But again...I have no proof. Someone ICQ'd me a webmaster resource service that supposedly is secure. I might have to give that a shot. |
There is pretty clear evidence that someone is going over whois.sc's search history. It appears to take them 3-7 days to steal your domain idea.

I wouldn't be as pissed if it was another person who was registering these names, but its fucking other Registrars and Domain companies. Thats what is really getting me pissed. |
Wow, it took an entire week? Usually only takes about 24 hours.
Fucking Kunts    What is really fucked up is those cocksuckers have the nerve to claim it is all just a coincidence. It has happened way too often to me for it to be just a coincidence and what is really crazy is when THE SAME FUCKING COMPANY registers SEVERAL of the same domains I just searched for. Explain that you cocksuckers! |
I'm going to try and draft up a standard letter and see if i can get a bunch of disgruntled webmasters to e-mail it to ICANN/Directnic to see if somebody can do something about this...tighten up the rules maybe?
Because there is obviously a hole somewhere that is given an unfair advantage to people. Someones selling something through the backdoor. |
where is the fucking good domain tho ?
not in this thread for sure. |
I have been using http://www.iyd.com for the past several weeks and has not happened to me on there yet.

lol no i was confused at first too, he went to check a domain on whois.sc and waited a week to register it , that company registered it by going through whois.sc's search records or something |

This is war. Shits going to change. Where the fuck is KRL and Taboo when shit like this comes along??? All they want to do is poke in and overprice domain names or beg you to let them broker it. .....why don't they try explaining this shit to me?

Good night. :smilie_we |
happens regularly @
godaddy/bluerazor whois.sc betterwhois register etc... if you want the name, take it right away. only $7 lost if you're feeling remorse. I ran a test once with some of the registrars mentioned above. ran about 100+ domains (that i had no desire to register), within days many domains were registered from my list, then about a week later, over half opened back up (after 5-day grace period). needless to say, I do NOT use any of them for whois searches. ridiculous, but, imho, there are worse domain problems out there. . |

You snooze you loose. Why the heck would you wait a week on a name you found that was a good one? And you should stop searching on sites that snoop users searches. |
A week?? Thats nothing to complain about. I've lost killer deals on premium domains by waiting an hour too long.

I agree. I picked this up in 2001 when some of my names would be registered within a month. At $8 a pop I can see no reason to wait, even if you put a generic homepage and get some PR you can sell in 3 or 4 months when it updates for $10. |

have we even chatted before? now kindly :321GFY Quote:

Sucks that you lost it, But just goes to show you if you want something these days you have to get it while you can, Scammers are everywhere:(
|
I have had simular problems with godaddy, I backorderd 5 domains well in advance and lost them all to a Korean mob. I eventualy got a non adult .biz one word domain with not so much resell value executed.biz
|
i know network solutions did this in the past (2000-2002) time.... not sure about now.
If it was such a great domain you should have registered it then and there. The practice is still wrong though. Terry |
Very simple solution get all whole bunch of webmasters( say oh 100 or more ) to seach for bullshit domain names. I mean hundreds each. Then this company will be blowing their money on bad domains. If they have some sort of filter to fileter bad domain out youa re still clogging up the whois search results with bad domain names.
|
You waited a week? Don't blame the registrar..lol
Use domainstate's whois: it's the only one I trust (because the guys that own it are incredibly honest) http://domainstate.com/custom.php3?action=tools&s= |
It's very frustrating. You just have to seize the moment.

I use namecheap for searching and have had no problems. They also have a bulk search feature.
For bulk searches I also use Watch My Domains.Excellent software. http://www.domainpunch.com/products/wmdpro/ |

Also to everyone else...thanks for the suggestions....but as of right now I don't trust anyone. Just like said above I may have to seize the moment. |

Yeah, had the same thing happen with whois.sc
Was registered within the same day |
why do you keep using whois.sc? It's a well know fact that they 'steal' domains....
|
that should be soooo illegal
|
I know the owner of whois.sc heh
