proxypass vs strongboxxx
The guys that say proxypass is better then strongboxxx what makes it better?
|
will be keeping an eye on this thread!
|
i have one site running strongbox and the rest of the server runing proxxypass, the proxxy pass is one install and protects all your sites and does a damm good job, and SB is an install per site and never had a problem with either of them. just depends on which one you want to use. PP doesnt change the htaccess like SB does it just watches whos logging in
|
I had no problems with I-Protect. Don't know anything about Strongbox...but I will say that Proxypass just didn't do the job.......
|
Since I have proxypass, I dont have to care about members area protection. Thats it, no issues, no stress.
|
Been using Strongboxxx on multiple sites for awile. Love it and Ray is on top of his game. Always responds to emails. Never used Proxy pass.
|
We use both but use Proxypass on a very large load balance set up and it works faultlessly.

i know strongbox allows for single signon to multiple sites.. does proxypass?
Also how to both interact with SITEDEPTH cms? |
looks like proxypass wins for the better customer service

in all honesty, I have had a bitch of time this past week getting strongboxxx installed...I personally think that Ray handing over installs and support to adultwebware was the worst move anyone could have possibly made I for sure will NEVER recommend anything adultwebware, and I am so mad about how they handle shit that if I ever see a thread with their name in it I will not hesitate to tell that person to stay away from them As far as Ray goes, he emailed me back and is investigating what is going on at AWW and why my install got so fucked up for strongboxxx If it doesn't go as planned tomorrow, and if the install is not done correctly, I will be asking for a refeund or charging back....and the nice fellows at toomuch media have invited me to load up their new system, Sparta...which my sys admin has installed and says it is the best protection script he has ever seen :) |
in fact, this whole week has left such a bad taste in my mouth that the more I think about it the more I am probably just going to tell AWW to eat my nutsack, and go with Sparta

WHat about Sparta?
|
I have used Strongbox, Password Sentry, and Proxy Pass. Out of the 3, I like Password Sentry much better and the support is awesome.

I use Strongbox for a period of time. It's quite strong and very easy to use. In some cases Ray could help to conect with end users and solve their problems directly. I think the service is very good.

Okay sparta installed, and looks good so far

Strongbox and SiteDepth work very nicely together on many, many sites.
Some time ago, there was a little compatibility issue with Strongbox and SiteDepth's "New" list, but that's been well resolved. I actually told Jace that there might need to be a setting adjustment in SiteDepth but that was a brain fart - I was thinking of an old version of NATS that sometimes needed a small tweak. The thing about single sign on is if you have more than one site and you want to link from the members' area of one site to the members' area of another. With Strongbox, you can set it so that anyone who has access to site A automatically has access to site B and never has to log in to site B. Once they log in to one of your sites they can follow your links around to your various members' areas without having to log in again. To the best of my knowledge only Strongbox has that feature. With Proxypass if they go from site A to site B they'd have to log in again at site B. |
This has been an informative thread for me.
It seems that it can be summarized by saying that Strongbox is installed per site, while Proxypass is per server. Strongbox is a one time fee of $100 (or less) per site, while Proxypass keeps billing you. Strongbox may be a bit more effective, but Proxypass may answer customer support emails a bit faster. Strongbox has some features that may be important to some people, but not so important to most, like the "secure handoff" or "single sign on" system, as well as supporting a wider range of password list formats. If you want those features or think you may want them in the future, Strongbox is for you, but if you don't plan on having any use for some of the extended features ProxyPass may be a good option. This highlights the fact that I need to hire a new customer support person to work in my office under my direct supervision immediately. :) |
Sparta is 60 bucks BTW. Per domain setup. No monthly fees either.
Many friends use strongboxx and say it rocks too. Sparta is easy because it adds a simple link in the NATS admin...So everything is in one admin. |

Strongbox works fine for me.
Advantage: (Low) one time fee |
We use proxy pass and I would have to say the worries about password sharing, brute force attacks, just loads of stuff ends in one go. Put it this way the money you pay for Proxy Pass you make back double due to you having so much more time on your hands!

Many of our clients use both Strongboxx as well as ProxyPass when using MAS. Works like a charm. :thumbsup |
