In response to the people posting in nofxs thread

1. ePassporte don't make shitty cards on purpose, the first version of the Electron card didn't live up to the quality expected and new and better cards are being issued now.

2. A new card costs $35 to get issued. There is work involved in issuing a new card because there can only be one active card per account at any time. The Electron card expiration date follows the virtual card. Meaning if your virtual card expires in 06/06 and you lose your Electron card now, a replacement card will only be good thru 06/06 in such cases we will charge you a fee of $35 for a new card and when a replacement card is issued in June the system will charge you a new fee but we will credit the money back to your account, you won't have to pay for a new card twice within 3 months.
Starting to issue free cards to those with worn out cards but not to those that lost their card or broke theirs wouldn't be an easy task. How about those that didn't store their card correctly.
ePassporte is a business like any other and the price of the Electron card is $35 per year and $35 if you need a new card issued but if you feel there is a good reason you shouldn't pay the $35 contact me and I will forward your request, we are not unreasonable.
New Electron cards that are issued are good for 2 years but you need to pay the yearly fee to keep it active.

3. nofx I added you to ICQ so I can get your account name so you can close your account as per your request.

4. kBizzle there are limits on how much there can be withdrawn to bank accounts but these limits can be raised. If your girlfriend still have problems please contact me or have her contact me and we will get it sorted out.

5. Please keep this thread in a good tone if you have problems, question or constructive criticism please post it here or contact me using the info in my sig.

What problems do you have?
Why does it suck?
Anything I can do to make it easier/better for you to use ePassporte?
The keywords in #5 were constructive criticism

I love my Epassporte account and I wouldn't want to lose it. The ONLY problem I have with it is that there is no buyer protection on this service. We recently paid someone via epass to do some work for us and when he didn't deliver the work to us, I tried everything I could do to file a claim, get a refund and everything, and there was not one thing we could do. I called Epass, I contacted the person who got the money, I did everything I could and was told I had ZERO recourse for money paid to a scammer.

I understand that it's our responsibility to take care of these things, but when there is absolutely no getting a refund from a client and we need to deal with it, Epass should have SOME means of keeping these people from scamming other people. When I called, I was told very flatly, there isn't anything I can do. I can't file a claim on this client so that he can't scam anyone else, I can't ask for a refund, there is literally not on thing a buyer can do to protect themselves against this.

It wasn't much money, but that wasn't the point. The point was to make sure he didn't do this again, but yet he is STILL doing it to people and there seems to be nothing anyone can do to stop him.

That is the only issue I have or ever have had with Epass. I don't mind the paying for a new card if I lose it or it's beaten up or whatever, that's business. What I DO hold issue with is someone being allowed to use a system to scam people and there's not one thing anyone can do about it. That is the only thing I could ever complain about.

I am not beating you up, Keyser, not even close. I am just giving a constructive criticism on things I don't like about the system and this is the only one I have. And it isn't even about me, it's about the fact that this was put together to protect us from chargebacks and such, but what do we do when someone is just allowed to scam and scam using your system and no one can do anything about it?

As far as why it sucks, try typing in epassporte sucks into the search here, there are pages and pages and pages full of peoples complaints. Its easy to see your company has some major problems in the customer service department and it doesn't seem like they care to improve it. If they had a more proactive approach on fixing customer issues I would be more inclined to deal with the fees and use your services, Instead they choose to pass the blame onto the user and act like they are the ones being unreasonable.

There isn't much you can do Keyser I think its the companies attitude as a whole that needs to change. Until them I'll use them only on a limited basis. :2 cents:

RogerV 03-07-2006 08:07 AM

Sounds great and I support Epassporte 100% as well as 100's of our affiliates we pay monthly through their system.

G-Rotica 03-07-2006 08:09 AM

Buyer protection would be nice. Or some kind of escrow service. And I know they exist, but how about an all in one service?

Jace 03-07-2006 08:16 AM

as mickeyG said, the fees are insane...that is one of the many reasons I have no interest in using them

EdgeXXX 03-07-2006 08:28 AM

Here is my constructive criticism/recommendations for Epassporte:

Why don't you guys worry about/address fixing the recurring complaints and problems in order to retain your current clients, instead of worrying about:

A. Who is going to be the model for your next (expensive) ad,

or

B. Coming up with gimmics like trying to lure new customers or retain current ones by giving away money in some goofy contest.

yeah,I kind of wondered about that too

i guess when you are trying to get new customers in you have to peddle to the lowest common denominator, a guy being horny....and it sucks to see so many shitty companies spend all this money on advertising and contests, when the only thing people really care about is using a solid service that works

Chris 03-07-2006 08:33 AM

ill hit you up in a few to cancle my other one once i make sure this one works

Yngwie 03-07-2006 08:34 AM

I love epassporte. It comes in very handy, but what I'm wondering is why do we have to pay for the electron card? Take paypal for instances. You get a card to use to take your $ out from ATM's and it's free. Why is it that with epassporte it costs us money? It's like your bank charging you $35 to get an ATM card for YOUR account with YOUR money. I know it costs $ to produce the cards, but the cost should not be put on us. After all, epass makes money off every transfer made using the system. Personally, I think that the card should be free. the only time it should cost something is IF someone lost their card and need a replacement. Since we pay when it comes to everything we should have some sort of system that protects us from being fucked over by scammer, but we don't.. Now, how much does the card actually cost to make? Surely not $35 a pop.

1. we get charged $ to load money onto out account from a credit card
2. we get charged $ to transfer $ to another account
3. the exchange rates we get suck (USD to CND or whatever)
4. We have to pay in order to get an Electron card that almost looks fake
5. We have to pay a yearly fee to keep the card active. (why? as long as the epassporte account is open the card should stay active at no cost)

That's just my 2 cents.

bellskids 03-07-2006 08:38 AM

You have to pay for a new epassporte card because of wear and tear? Gees, no banking services that I know of here in the UK charge anything for replacement cards. Maybe its different in the states I dont know but that sucks from my point of view.

You are based in Florida right? Then you can withdraw to your bank account directly for a fee of $2.
The Electron card costs $35 and thats the way it is, not really much to say about it, everything costs money these days and its up to everyone individually to decide if its worth the $35.
The Electron card should work in all ATM's with the PLUS logo.

Scotty.T 03-07-2006 08:41 AM

Keyser, IS the new upgraded system in place so that I can get an account name that starts with 's' ???

candyflip 03-07-2006 08:42 AM

ePass for me is a last resort. I'd go to the drug store and get one of those prepaid jobbies before having to rely on ePass.

i can see that the card does not work in every atm
i have had ONE (older ) atm that still gave out in 10's tell me that I had zero balance
it didnt even ask me if i wanted to take from checking savings or credit
so i dunno
could just be a dated machine :)

Odin 03-07-2006 08:48 AM

Only thing I'll add to this thread is that I recently dealt with keyser re: my epass account and he took care of things in a very quick and professional manner and was happy with the end result. I understand some people have some honest grief with epass, but I don't understand why all the drama is happening around a $35 card, kinda pathetic.

Ok, I'll send it to you now. When I talked to her, I gave her his info, I forget her name, and she asked me to hold, I did. A few minutes later she came back and says "Nope, nothing we can do, contact the client" and that was that. I would have been JUST as happy if they would just stop him, he is a known scammer and I don't want him scamming anyone else. But she did take his info and mine. I'll send it to you now. Just please stop this guy. Like I said, my loss wasn't bad, any loss is bad, yes, but I am not worried about me, I am more concerned with this guy being stopped.

~Ray 03-07-2006 08:51 AM

I have problems loading, but never unloading. I don't mind the $35 because I make enough to where I could care less about $35. I'd pay $35 a year to us the epassporte system. Better than going to Western Union... :2 cents:

rick-e 03-07-2006 08:53 AM

I think the quality of the card is pretty good, but my card was issued in october 2005 so not sure of the quality of the cards issued earlier.

Are they really?
$.25 for a p2p
$5 anually for the virtual card.
No fee for receiving money.
We can agree on thats cheap right?

$2 per withdrawal using the electron card.
If I use my CC to withdraw money its a lot more than $2 and if you take out $500 its a 0.4% fee.
If you withdraw $1000 its 0.2% fee

$35 yearly for the Electron card.
Again its up to everyone individually if they want to pay for this service or not for non-US webmasters its makes it a lot cheaper to receive payments I save several hundred a year by using ePassporte as a webmaster.

Load fee $5 per $100 or portion there off.
Yes it can seem a bit high but its high risk transactions.

Trixxxia 03-07-2006 08:58 AM

I personally have never had problems with it. I know before I hand it out to pay to ask first if their systems are 'modern' enough to accept Visa Electron cards - if the cashier doesn't know what I'm talking about, I take out the cash or regular cards. I've never had a problem getting money from the card & even went as far as sending one to my mom-in-law in Europe as it's much easier to 'send' a gift for special occasions or in case of emergency.

Dave Foster 03-07-2006 08:59 AM

i've never had a problem with my epass and appreciate the support so far! Keyser, i admire the way you handle so much criticism with such diplomacy...keep up the good work :thumbsup

ePassporte is a business and it costs money to run a business and in the end I think the owner would like a profit just like with every other business.

1. Yes but it costs money to process the transaction.
2. its $.25
3. The ATM where you withdraw the money sets the exchange rate and the cases I've looked into when someone complained about a bad exchange rate its normally less than 1% difference from the official exchange rate.
4. The new version of the Electron card that have been sent out over the last year looks a lot better and like a normal card.
5. Like I mentioned a couple of times ePassporte is a business and money have to be made somewhere. I know I still save hundreds every year by using ePassporte instead of having to cash foreign checks.

This is exactly what I am talking about, Keyser. The problem does not lie within your Marketing, Customer Service, or Tech Support departments; the problem with Epassporte is a POOR Management team. Who is the Operations Director and what are his/her qualifications? You don't have to answer that here, I am posing that as a question that Epassporte management should be asking themselves. The company just looks like it has NO idea what it's doing. The Marketing Dept should be fully aware of your company's current PR (Public Relations) crisis and be working closely with the CS team to come up with an EFFECTIVE damage control plan and marketing/promotion strategy, not coming up with these gimmics and ad model polls; all this does is act as a slap in the face of current customers with unresolved issues or complaints and makes the company look like it is trying ignore it's problems (thereby actually increasing perceived PR damage).

Ridiculous fees? Getting paid by epassporte is 3 times cheaper that cashing checks - at least for me, and my bank only charges about 5 bucks per check, there are countries where the fee is much higher.

If you have to complain about Epassporte fees, obviously your banking situation is quite good and you aren't even in Epassporte's target demographic.

When I was in Canada I had to pay per US dollar check I deposited, and then they were held for 30 days. Epassporte made getting my money sooner much easier. I can even receive larger balances that I would normally only wire, without having to pay a $30 wire reception fee to my bank for the transaction.

You're getting your money fast. Within seconds of your affiliate program transferring your income to you you can hit the ATM and have the cash in your hand, all for $2 (transfer from aff program) + $2 (withdraw fee). There is no banking service in the world that will get you your money that quick that cheap.

Now that I'm in Central America, Epassporte is a godsend, setting up my banking stuff here has taken months, and I have never had the card not work when I needed it to, and I withdraw 2-3 times a week.

Yes the service has its faults, but since there's no alternative for me I'm still thankful for the service they provide.

JFK 03-07-2006 10:45 AM

I love My Epassporte, works for me wherever I go. I was in Costa Rica this past week and had no problem accesing the funds, whereas other people with credit cards did.:2 cents:

V_RocKs 03-07-2006 10:59 AM

I have a very high limit on withdrawls... my bank comes no where close... less than 10%... I have extra withdrawls per day added. I don't mind paying $35 for a card... Same thing as with a Visa card from Chase... They wanted $25 for my second card and when I lost the first, they issued me a new one... then when I lost the second they charged me $25.... Do I care about $25? No... I wouldn't even wipe my ass with it or light a cigar with it.... I throw $5's and $20's into this 5 gallon water jug I got from Sparklets.... I figure I can buy a car for my kid when he's of driving age.. let him fuck that one up and then get him something nice at 20 or 21.
