Yahoo to ban bidding on trademarked terms
starting next month yahoo will no longer let competing businesses bid on trademark or tld phrases.
from an SEOBOOK thread "On March 1, 2006, Yahoo! Search Marketing will modify its editorial guidelines regarding the use of keywords containing trademarks. Previously, we allowed competitive advertising by allowing advertisers to bid on third-party trademarks if those advertisers offered detailed comparative information about the trademark owner's products or services in comparison to the competitive products and services that were offered or promoted on the advertiser's site. In order to more easily deliver quality user experiences when users search on terms that are trademarks, Yahoo! Search Marketing has determined that we will no longer allow bidding on keywords containing competitor trademarks." link for those of you that wanna read it http://www.seobook.com/archives/001541.shtml and more http://forums.searchenginewatch.com/...ad.php?t=10255 |

target trademarks who'ed of thought about that...
my question is to yahoo? why were you allowed to sell advertising for all these years on trademark names ? you didn't allow some bigger trademarks to be bidded on. Yahoo's old policy was if you don't ask me to stop or demand I stop selling I don't have to stop..lol.. |
Don't sign that document yo! hehe, aren't you glad to read news like this :)
