I need a jockstrap education
 

The munchkin has to wear one when he spars.

I asked his father to take him and deal with it, and that didn't happen.

No surprise there, but that is an aside.

I bought him a dealy at walmart, where it was like underwear with a pouch built in it. The actual cup is hard plastic, and kind of looks like a teardrop.

When I put it in the pouch, I put it so that the fullest curve of it was at the bottom.

He bitched the entire time today about how it was uncomfortable and chafing.

Did I put it in wrong??? I have no freakin' clue. Did I buy the wrong kind? Or are they generally uncomfortable?

Drop by the house this weekend. I'll put one on and walk you through the whole skinny.

I played both football and rugby throughout HS and college. My best suggestion is tell'em to wear underwear (briefs, not boxers) under the jock strap 'n cup. Helps cut down on the chafing.

The one you bought him is probably too small.

My freshmen year of high school I had to wear one that came from K-mart.
