the landowner, agent, or lessee must notify in writing the game
warden or other department employee assigned to the area in which
the landowner's property is located of the landowner's, agent's, or
lessee's intent.
(b) Not later than the next business day after the date of
notification, the game warden or other department employee shall
contact the office of the Texas Cooperative Extension serving the
area in which the landowner's property is located to verify that the
landowner's property is typically used to plant a crop that is
susceptible to damage caused by depredating deer.
(c) Not later than the second business day after the game
warden or other department employee contacts the Texas Cooperative
Extension under Subsection (b), the game warden or employee shall
notify the landowner, agent, or lessee if the landowner, agent, or
lessee is prohibited from hunting deer under this subchapter. The
game warden or other department employee may prohibit a landowner,
agent, or lessee from hunting deer under this subchapter only if the
Texas Cooperative Extension office contacted under Subsection (b)
notifies the game warden or other department employee that the
landowner's property is not typically used to plant a crop that is
susceptible to damage caused by depredating deer.

people report shooting accidents a full 24 hours later ? they dont bring in the weapon ? when officers respond to the shooting they are told to go away and they do ? you get caught shooting without a stamp for the game your hunting and you get to mail in the fee at a later date , none of your equipment is seized no ticket and no court date ?

I'm not saying that there arent isolated cases where all of the above "DOES" happen , but usually they involve favourtism or other circumstances.. Either way , public figures should do things "above and beyond" what the average citizen should do..

Have a source for them sending the cops away, and not reporting it right away? How did the guy get to the hospital? Did they leave him in the field for 24 hours? A report would also have been filled out at the hospital prior to, or during initial treatment. Such a load of crock its funny.

"They made arrangements at the sheriff's request to have deputies come out and interview the vice president the following morning at 8 a.m. and that indeed did happen," Zahren said.

At least one deputy showed up at the ranch's front gate Saturday evening and asked to speak to Cheney but was turned away by the Secret Service, Zahren said.

ummm, this isn't exactly the case. It was at a private quail farm, I highly doubt licenses were even required.

It isn't like they were out in a field hunting in the open. If what I heard is correct, it is more like fishing at a trout farm.

Your usually handcuffed, even if its an accident , and your questioned.. this happens in umm LIKE EVERY SINGLE CASE EVER llol ok maybe not every , but 99.999999% of cases you WOULD be interogated as SOON as the cops found out.. if you DIDNT report it and there wasnt a damn good reason ( like power out , no phone etc and this was not the case ) you WOULD be cuffed , and you WOULD be under hot lights..

So if you were out with your buddy hunting quail. And you had two or more other witnesses that could attest to what happened. You are about to shoot a bird and your buddy had moved in front of you and the sun was behind him so you didnt see him. You are focused on a bird that is flying across the sun and trying to make the shot. You pull the trigger with your intentions of shooting a quail and not another person. You think you should be cuffed and stuffed for that huh? Amazing. Accidents happen. No one needs to be jailed for a minor hunting accident where a guy got hit by some birdshot. This whole thing is being over dramatized. Its a ridiculous display.

I just love the miscellaneous factors that contributed to the accident:
flat topography, fair visibility, light cover, sunny & clear. What kind of moron can't spot his buddy right in the middle of his sights under those conditions?!? LOL

Secondly i never said anything about cuffing and arresting someone over a reported accident.. I was referring to the fact that the shooter never spoke to police until the next day even though there was AMPLE opportunity to do so. So to answer your question , yes if i shot my friend because i'm an idiot who doesnt understand how to use a gun , then i turned away police when they came to interview me .. umm yes i would expect to be cuffed and arrested .

Your right about one thing.. the whole thing was/is overblown.. It WAS a mistake theres no question about that so the only problem here is abuse of power.. If we cant get our own leaders to report simple accidents how are we supposed to trust them to tell us the truth.

Not sure if your a hunter or not , but getting hit in the neck face and arms with 50+ pellets isnt " getting hit with some pellets " its called " getting shot with a shotgun "

i think what he is trying to say is if whittington was 30 "yards" away ( roughly the distance between home plate and first base in baseball ) and got hit in the "face , neck , chest and arm" the spread pattern suggests if a bird was shot it would be disintegrated.. ( i.e. not useable )

If you go to a trout farm no fishing license is required. As this is a private quail farm I am willing to bet no stanps are required there either.
