What kind of person are you?

Are you the type that puts things down anywhere in a supermarkey if you don't want it any more or are you the kind that goes back and puts it back where you got it from?

baddog 02-14-2006 03:08 AM

I put it back where it belongs

Sarah_Jayne 02-14-2006 03:17 AM

Some how I knew you would be...me too.

2HousePlague 02-14-2006 03:18 AM

I fly the un-eaten exotipods all the way back to the MotherLand, whenever I find them in the stool.

Depends on how much of a hurry I'm in. Usually back where it belongs but sometimes I'll put ice cream in the cereal aisle. :1orglaugh j/k :uhoh

adultchica 02-14-2006 03:30 AM

I put it back where it belongs if it is perishable, NOT where it belongs if it's non perishable lol.........

JamesK2 02-14-2006 03:34 AM

I just leave it somewhere. The people there get paid to work and I think it's their job to put things back.

The Sultan Of Smut 02-14-2006 04:07 AM

I put it back and sometimes I even straighten things out.

Sort of what prompted this thread. This morning I saw ice cream dumped in the bread isle. That ruins a product and it can no longer be sold. Borderline theft.

2HousePlague 02-14-2006 04:18 AM

It horrifies me, too, Sarah -- to see the flagrant disregard, devaluation...
and the undeniable denial of empathy
when so much empathy is due.
Alas, what do we do?

VegasGirl1 02-14-2006 04:23 AM

shopping etiquette

I just put it anywhere, I figure job security for someone -- unless it is perishable and then I put it somewhere that it won't spoil.. not usually back in it's place though.

KRL 02-14-2006 04:27 AM

Put it back where it came from.

When I was in high school I worked part time in retail menswear. I kept my department totally organized and neat, and I'd go nutzo when people would pick up merchandise and then just fling it back without refolding it neatly and stacking it where it belonged.

Yeah I worked in CVS for a bit while I was in high school and even though I always put things back before then I worked there it certainly made me more aware of what a pain it is when people just left things all over the place.

LittleSassy 02-14-2006 09:00 AM

i usually puts it back where it belongs....

chase 02-14-2006 09:05 AM

Depends on if I have a screaming baby in hand or not.

Honestly though, shopping is such a routine now that I don't ever have to put anything back, lol. I read the newspaper circulars, I know what's on sale and what my family likes, and I go buy what we need.

I wouldn't put refrigerated products just on a shelf though. I'd at least put them in a refrigerated area, even if it wasn't the correct one.

IWantU_Jeff 02-14-2006 09:14 AM

I usually try to put it back where it belongs...

SilentKnight 02-14-2006 10:37 AM

I'll set stuff down wherever I'm standing.

Its called 'cross marketing'.

But I never send the manufacturers a bill for my time to cross market their products, though. I'm kinda' philanthropic that way.

Tom_PM 02-14-2006 10:41 AM

Where it belongs. Anything else is just uncivilized.
I think every person should be drafted to work retail for 1 year of their lives and put an end to the BS once and for all. Who's with me?!?!
hehe

ronaldo 02-14-2006 10:43 AM

I'd wait until going through the checkout and tell the clerk that I changed my mind on that item.

SongRider 02-14-2006 10:50 AM

Set it anywhere unless if I am off the isle I got it from. Someone is paid to find it and put it back.

But then again I also throw cans out the car window so the mexicans can continue working.

I like to think I am a "hell of a guy" for thinking about my fellow mans job security that way.

but "lazy" seems to sum it up best!

its all in how you choose to look at it!

:1orglaugh

I put it back when I'm not in a hurry..lol

LauraLee 02-14-2006 11:25 AM

I put them back where they belong.

It's simple to me, do on to others as you..

Elli 02-14-2006 11:33 AM

I put them back where they belong. Might as well not make someone else's day worse than it already is.

It would end just about all rudeness to cashier staff too.

sfera 02-14-2006 12:12 PM

i just leave it someone

After Shock Media 02-14-2006 12:20 PM

I place it in someone elses cart when they are not looking. :winkwink:

Actually I can not recall a time I have had the need to put something back.

Tricksy 02-14-2006 12:39 PM

I put them back to where they belong...

GirlV 02-14-2006 12:41 PM

Put things back where they belong. :)

Zuss 02-14-2006 12:48 PM

where it belongs. I'm such a nice person.

But I do drop garbage on the floor whenever I use the public transport. These guys need to rethink their prices, damnit!!

maybe their prices are high because they have to pay people to clean up so often?

theFeTiShLaDy 02-14-2006 12:49 PM

i'm an organized person and i always put things back where they should belong.

calibra 02-14-2006 12:55 PM

I send others to do shopping for me :winkwink:

tristan_D 02-14-2006 04:32 PM

when I'm too lazy to go back to where I got it I just leave it somewhere

Sam Granger 02-14-2006 04:34 PM

usually i don't pick up crap i don't need so i don't have to put it back, but when I do, i take it back exactly where it belongs.

Cashiers are the ones who are rude most of the time. Worst are those ones that will greet the person in front of me but then when it's my turn won't greet me at the checkoutline. WTF is that? Nice way to treat their customers.

Next time this happens I think I will contact management and let them know. Cashiers are really rude most of the time.

Oh and if it's non-perishable I put it back wherevers.

I worked in a supermarket when I was a student. The job was so mind numbingly dull and repetitive that I looked forward to returning products that customers couldn't be arsed to return themselves as it helped break up the monotony...

Trust me, it goes both ways.

Judging by the attitude problem you seem to have on the board, I would be willing to bet that it is extended into the real world as well. I can understand how one might want to just get your transaction taken care of and get you out the door with minimal interaction.

EroticySteve 02-14-2006 05:39 PM

It depends. If i'm shopping and while strolling the store for other items I realize that I don't need or want it, I will put it back.

I sometimes realize at the checkout that I don't need or want an item. At that point I'll hand it to the clerk at the register.

Last night for instance, I was at the checkout and thought to myself.

Why on Earth would I need 2 lbs of Jalapeno cheese slices?

To me it's always important to do the right thing and if you're at Sam's Club the right thing is not to leave that cheese over in Electronics where it may not be found until it goes bad.

Babagirls 02-14-2006 05:48 PM

when i change my mind, i'll just put it down where im at. (unless its eggs or something).

Spunky 02-14-2006 05:49 PM

I hate when people put perishables in other isles..I always put it back where it belongs

Paul Waters 02-14-2006 06:14 PM

I am pretty sure of what I buy, so putting back is not an issue.

However when the checkout lines are unreasonably long, it is almost closing time, and a cashier shuts down, I will walk away from my cart and just leave.

Kinky John 02-14-2006 06:17 PM

i eat out most of the time

Wow, what a quite intriguing question.. Well, I always make sure there is no sales attendant or guard following me before I leave them anywhere.

shermo 02-14-2006 06:39 PM

I'll always put it back. no need 9in making somebody else do extra work for my fuckup.

sniperwolf 02-14-2006 07:26 PM

I put it back where it belongs unless I'm already in the counter..hehe
