Average tech support times?

If your server was down. What would you consider an average technical support resolution time, after you initially contacted technical support?

5 minutes and all should be up again ,

wdsguy 02-09-2006 03:26 PM

under 5 mins with natnet.

How long is a piece of string?

It really depends on the problem. Did the harddrive explode? or does it just need a reboot.

Depends on what color scissors you use to cut it.

depends on a lot of factors

something simple, less than 20 minutes

something more trivial like a crash or ddos, could be a while

This is true. If its a simple reboot, then it should just be a matter of minutes. However, if you have a hard drive failure, then it will take time to restore from a back up...no matter who you host with.

Heh they havent even diagnosed the fucking problem yet. Half hour and counting...

sickkittens 02-09-2006 03:35 PM

Hopefully the question isn't "how long does it take for your host to contact you"...I've had one in the past that took awhile to even get my response. Left them very quickly.

OC3Networks, Webair, and AdultEuHost: 5 minutes for a REAL reply max, usually resolved within 10 minutes.

My host is Webair, its a dedicated. First contacted via phone tech support at 4:55pm eastern asked them to reboot it - waited 10-15 minutes still server is down - contacted a representative via ICQ at 5:10pm eastern - representative replied that someone is *working* on the server - it is 5:45pm eastern and they are still *working* on it without any explanation as to what the *working* is lol. Am I dense because frankly it shouldnt take a TRAINED TECH half an hour to figure out why a server crashed? Or does it?

Splum 02-09-2006 03:52 PM
