Review sites, adwords, marketing of prog sites.. BS!

Lets see what the general webmaster thinks, maybe some program owners can give some input too.. I know a few program owners have very strong opinions about this already; it?s a rising subject & issue for a lot of owners.

Review sites, adword buyers, etc.. Nailing down our domain keywords for our sites. As an example keywords: bustyamateurbobos and busty amateur boobs

While currently bustyamateurboobs I have the #1 slot, it?s not always that way. With busty amateur boobs as the keyword I?m not on the 1st two pages, I used to have #1.

My thing with review sites is, so many different review sites, and they all end up taking over my direct domain keywords, people 100% for sure looking for my site. The visitor ends up going to the review site, and can end up seeing other boob sites with better reviews. IE: My traffic is being told my site is only okay, but here is a better one you should join. Same basic idea for people buying adword slots for my domain names. Same BS goes for people advertising other paysites on adwords with my domain name keywords.

I feel I shouldn?t have to pay for this traffic, traffic that should be mine anyway. Traffic I 100% had before review sites came out. So as a normal webmaster, if you sent a visitor, I cookie him, ip, all that jazz for tracking. Then he comes back later to join, types in busty amateur boobs in google, can?t find my site so he goes to a review site, clicks the link, and now no longer belongs to the original webmaster who sent him. How the hell is this fair to anyone? How much more does this happen on rather large sites / programs?

Thoughts?

Btw, as a side now. If you build a gallery, a free site, etc. and you end up taking over my keywords, and you advertise other sites on your site, then so be it. At least they don't say the other sites may or may not be better. Hell, I don't know if I want traffic that should have went to other boob sites in the first place....... Just my thoughts.

839 bustyamateurboobs
2962 busty amateur boob

thats overtures searches for the past month...

not enough traffic for you to close out people that will be sending you traffic from way better keywords :2 cents:

TheDoc 01-25-2006 12:57 PM

It's not really funny.

I think I'm just going to start build massive spam pages, that advertise ALL other boob sites, boob site keywords, direct domain keywords, just to push my paysite. It's no different.

abyss_al 01-25-2006 12:58 PM

i've always wanted the keyword "bustyamateurbobos" to be mine...

Evil1 01-25-2006 12:58 PM

make your site not suck, simple concept:2 cents:

why dont you then? if you're that good at seo then you should be able to get #1-10 for your own keywords then you wont have anything to complain about, and you will be also getting traffic from review sites that are getting OTHER sites keyword traffic. sounds like a win win situation for you.

rabbit 01-25-2006 01:02 PM

how about taking the review suggestions to heart and improving your site?

Thats competition, Do it. Dont act like people are stealing your god given traffic.

Abyss_Vee 01-25-2006 01:03 PM

you shouldnt open up an affiliate program if you are affraid people will be using your Site name to promote YOUR site

What I said to do is illegal, btw.

beemk 01-25-2006 01:04 PM

http://www.google.com/search?q=busty...en-US:official

looks like half the results arent even going to your site, and the other half are review sites PROMOTING YOUR SITE. if you dont like it mabye you should tell them you dont want their business, then you wont have any sites promoting your site in the top 10.

andrej_NDC 01-25-2006 01:10 PM

I take it as a healthly competition, I was doing some SEO work because of it and now Im #1 for my keywords. :)

Sly 01-25-2006 01:15 PM

I don't really understand your stance. Just the other day you were telling me how great review sites are and how they bring in a nice steady sum of joins. Now you're saying you don't appreciate those joins because they may be making money off of "your traffic" elsewhere? Maybe you could clarify that a little bit.

Another thing to keep in mind, for every one webmaster that may be "ripping you off", there are 10 others who are new to promoting your program and otherwise wouldn't.

If you really don't like review site traffic, I suppose you could add a clause in your TOS saying you don't want that type of traffic. Something to think about.

Crypt 01-25-2006 01:17 PM

:1orglaugh

Its always funny to see some program owner complaint like this because some affiliates do a better job than them with SE/Adwords ;) lol

You are the 2 program owner talking like this over a 3 weeks period. I hate this new trend really. If ppl send the sale , THEY NEED TO BE CREDITED for the sale.
Period. Even if they take over your top ranks, use adwords or any legit way to generate traffic.

By any chance, if any other program owner think like TheDoc and i dont know about it, please post, it will be a pleasure to remove your program as well from my traffic system.

Clear this up right quick :) My sites where around before I had a webmaster program. After the program, even a year later, tons of webmasters got se listings and sent great traffic. I got tons of inhouse sales and direct return visits from the se's. When the two top review sites came out my direct se traffic dropped by 50%. I built it back up, more review sites came out, and pushed me down and more. Normal webmasters building stuff I can compete with, but not super keyword heavy review sites.

With what I told you, it goes great for new / small programs that need the traffic. I don't need their traffic to get the sales, I already had them before they came around. They didn't produce more, they just increased my webmaster payouts.

TheDoc 01-25-2006 01:28 PM

We don't have anything about review sites or adword buying in our terms. We will sometime soon though.

However, we have been turning away review sites for over a year now. If they ask for a user/pass we tell them we would rather they don't review our sites. It's not like I just started seeing this today.

andrej_NDC 01-25-2006 01:28 PM

btw I dont see any SE work on your main URL for bustyamateurboobs.com, and the tour is PR0. No offense, but its pretty easy to get above you in google. :)

Something is wrong with PR. I'm listed all over the SE's on other domains that I own too. I get more in-house sales daily than my webmasters send daily. SE isn't where I get most of my traffic.

Any other keywords, other than my domain names, is all for the webmasters, 100%. I just don't like my direct names being ripped out from unde rme.

Niki 01-25-2006 01:35 PM

simple solution .... close your affiliate program ... affiliates made you your bookmarkers ... so don't be mad if they want too piece of cake ;)

xxxice 01-25-2006 01:36 PM

Interesting ...

TheDoc 01-25-2006 01:36 PM

Targeting my domain name keywords, "targeting" which is what review sites do, it's how they get the traffic.. That is what I have a problem with.

And I DAMN WELL KNOW other owners have problems with it too. I have talked to at least 5 they hate review sites and have started to think of ways to kill them from the program. Just wondering who is going to be the first to do it. It?s coming.

But you have the site everyone is linking to, you can get the top rankings on your keywords easier than any other guy. So use it.

Doctor Dre 01-25-2006 01:39 PM

Actually I think it's all fair game ... search engine traffic don't really belong to you, unless the SE wants you to have it.

What is gay is WHEN you have the #1 spot in yahoo, and thoses guys buy it and send traffic to you. Now that's stupid.

Phoenix 01-25-2006 01:39 PM

hey dude..when i pay for ppc traffic and send it to someone i am taking a risk that i will make a profit....hell even when i make a profit it is slim at best.

you should be happy ppc guys find you worthy of sending traffic to

i usually like all your posts..but not this one..lol

Na, nats linking codes care less about the domain, paysites would kill the SE's if that was the case. Some programs have it setup right, but not nats.

Linking codes aren't www.domain.com they are in.domain.com that goes through a redirect to the domain, which also opens a var up so it's a unique listing. Its every webmaster for himself when you use NATS.

Yeap! i'd like to hear it from other programs also.

TheDoc 01-25-2006 01:46 PM

Sponsors aren't going to comment, they are afraid to make webmasters upset and they beg on hands knees for the webmaster traffic.

Crypt 01-25-2006 01:47 PM

Send the list of the 5 programs you are talking about TheDoc

TheDoc 01-25-2006 01:49 PM

What I find odd is the few people really against this, is the people we would not let review our sites.

Abyss_Vee 01-25-2006 01:50 PM

what i find odd is that. you turn this from a general discussion to now pointing fingers cause u know u are wrong?

Wrong about what? That I don't like it? That they DO take se traffic I once had? What am I wrong about, I missed that part.

Yeah, but not much really. Look at some of the, not monster programs, but big ones.. They don't have the best listings either. The bigger the site of course the better top listing they do get for domain name keywords, but it really isn't that big of a benefit.

3 years running EGC, and webmasters haven't really pushed any rankings or pr rankings up. I had a 3/4 before webmasters, and I have a 3/4 with webmasters. Some of my own pages have much better listings, better than the paysites, and they have way less links to them.

I really careless if any agrees. A few posting own review sites so of course they don't like the idea, they really seem to hate the idea.

It's not like I'm running out and telling them to quit, I have a different game plan for active review sites that already push us. I'm not going to kill their accounts, have anyone EVER heard of me doing that? No..

Really only two ways to get kicked from my program. Fraud and one other way, which I have only had to happen once.

what if i submit a gallery for you and instead of clicking my code they type the site name into google and click your site without a code? i dont see how the traffic is automatically yours. and what if i once had the #1 spot on google and you took it, that doesnt mean it still belongs to me.

Any program, if they don't click the linking code and type in the domain, the site owner is going to get the credit for the sale.

The "traffic is not mine", this is really simple. The keywords "bustyamateurboobs" and "busty amateur boobs" are mine.
