i need some reference photos for a design - 'makeup case' and 'makeup box' don't yield many search results - there must be a more common term for whatever that makeup carrying thingy is?

It's called a TRAIN CASE. This is the official name. Trust me, I know :)

Some people do actually buy real tackle boxes from an crafts store to store makeup and some do also refer to it as a tackle box. But the official name is train case. There are even forums on the net where makeup afficionados share pictures of their beloved and cherished "train cases".

Sometimes people also spell it "traincase".

Caboodle is a (rather cheap) brand that makes some train cases, but it's not the actual name of the container that holds the makeup. Also, it's spelled Caboodle and NOT Kaboodle. Caboodles is just a BRAND.

Cosmetics bag or case is just a bag that holds the makeup, but if you have A LOT of makeup, you would want a train case that folds out, that's what professional makeup artists use, but true makeup aficionados also appreciate a profession well-designed train case to show off their makeup.

I don't like the term vanity case, I visit a lot of makeup forums and the accepted name is "train case" its the universal term, some people might use "vanity case" but it's not the the norm. Train case is more popular and accepted!

A vanity by itself is just the stand where one can sit and apply makeup at.

Anyways, I'm really into makeup and traincases so I could talk about this all day long basically.
