Do you buy American?
Does blind patriotism lead your decisions to purchase or do you buy the best product for the money regardless of origin?
best product dictates what i buy, not where its assembled
I gotta agree with Bringer

Er.... |
it's with the quality. not with the brand.

For many products, American-made isn't an option anymore. :2 cents: Or... at least not an option in the big-box retail stores. |
i pay for value, not a little white tag on the back. i guess i am mature that way.
I try to buy local brands whenever possible, American OR Canadian!
WalMart and others have made it almost impossible to avoid buying Chinese. Nothing seems to be made in the US or Canada anymore.
Don't care where it's made, as long as it's good.
I buy the highest quality shit for the least amount of money. Which usually means it's coming from somewhere Asian. ;)
We've yet to learn how to make good shit. Even our cars aren't that great anymore. :( |

Which is why most people buy foreign-made products -- decent quality, rock-bottom price! |
I am more of the latter. I don't look at country of origin. I look at quality/cost/ROI total value.
I'm the same way. I could care less where it's made if it's a quality product. There are many American made products that are superior, there are many that are inferior. It matters to me not where it's from but rather how good it is.
Then there's the patriotism side of the issue. If we can't build the best products and our economy suffers who's fault is it? Is it our fault for not buying these products or is it the manufacturers fault for making crap? |
I dont think it really matters anymore....
I grew up in Michigan. Almost everyone in my family has worked for the auto industry, including myself.... I used to make dash guages for GM and Jaguar. Back in the day.... It was a sin to buy anything other then American. You did not want to drive into your works parking lot with a foreign car. People were beaten up for driving foreign. The autoworker union guys were dead seriuos, about spreading the message "buy American". Since then, ALOT of GM jobs went to Mexico, and now we build Hondas and Toyotas at American plants with American workers. 15 years ago, it may have made a difference, but not now. |
same as over here in australia , they did this big "buy australia made " problem was that australian made stuff is expensive compared to imported , then there is also the problem of finding austrlian made stuff
even an Australian flash will have the lable "made in china " |
I looked at all the presents this year under the Christmas tree and 95% of the stuff was made in China. I was surprised. Bought a lot of the stuff from Wal Mart and it seems that everything in that store is Chinese. :(
it's the quality, doesnt matter where it came from...
as long as it's good and cheap I don't care
Hell even some of the american made cars are made in mexico.
Whatever fits my taste and my budget..
There are other ways of measuring someone's patriotic ideology.. |
It's not blind patriotism for some one to want to buy products from their own country(which ever country it may be). But price is how most people shop, and that's almost always imported.

Frankly, I think the Wal-Marts of the world are what will keep the States a superpower. By outsourcing "crap jobs" it forces our citizens to become smarter and stronger to stay alive. Thats just my theory, I'm not going to pretend to know all of the economics behind it. |

i will try too

Living in the UK it really isn't something advertised. I wouldn't not buy stuff made in the US/UK but I also don't go out of my way.
The USA has a 200 Billion $ trade deficit with China. What do you think most people are doing? It's necessary to have these cheap goods to buy the votes of those with low paying jobs. According to FOX News not buying goods made in China would be unpatriotic. Haven't you been watching the news?
I don't care where it comes from as long as it's quality. Many of the companies are in bed with each other anyway, so something manufactured in China may still be partly American owned.

pretty damn lame if you buy products out of patriotism, its rediculous
UNless you buy it at a local crafts store, chances are it aint made here. Hell even Harley's are mostly Japanese anymore, so why bother. Buy the best product for the $, no matter where's it's made.
"UNless you buy it at a local crafts store, chances are it aint made here."
Thatīs it !!! Patriostism will lead you to buy chinese products with an american, german, uk, canadian......whatever flag on it. Donīt believe every shit (flag) they print on the box because they all want to earn some $$$...I buy the best product and it seems to be the best way. |
