Strange PC Problem, Any Experts Ready to Help?

Recently my PC has begun to show some strange behaviour. I have this central socket with a switch where all my plugs go to. Since a few weeks I need to switch the central socket on and leave it on for like 15 mins before I can switch on the PC itself, otherwise it just won't switch on.

The time that I need to leave the switch on keeps getting longer and longer and I do not have a single clue what could cause this.

Your help is much appreciated.

check the socket out it sounds faulty! if its an extension lead try replacing it

Can you turn on other things plugged into the central socket during those 15 minutes? Have you tried plugging the PC directly to a wall jack to make sure there isn't actually a problem with it?

The other electronics like printer, monitor, sound system all turn on immediately, it's only the PC.

Defiinitely plug that sucker straight to a wall jack and eliminate (or confirm) it as having the problem. If it works fine when you do that, try switching where it was plugged in on the central socket with the printer or monitor and see what happens. I've had single plugs on a multi-plug surge go out before.

Sounds like you need to do a bit of testing. One possibility is your powersource overheating within your computercase. Try plugging it directly into the wall first, and if that works, you've found your problem. But if it still acts up, I would look into the possibility of replacing the powersupply if you are really attached to your case, or the entire case itself.

hrm when I leave the central socket switched on all night (and the machines plugged into it turned off) the PC starts up without any problems in the morning.

Kind of odd.

Probably a PSU issue. Man I've had my share of those. Very wierd booting problems like having to hold the on button and shit like that

Well letting the switch of the central socket on all night is the same as plugging it into the wall directly right?
