Faveorite party food?

I'm hosting a party on Saturday and then again on New Years Eve. What are your faveorite party foods? Even better if they are something you actually cook since I think everyone here is getting bored with the same old stuff you just heat up in the oven that the stores sell here.

I am very fond of items wrapped in bacon such as water chestnuts, scallops, and pineapple chunks.
I still love lil smokies with an assortment of good mustard's.
Chicken liver pate is also good with crackers.
Antipasto trays always are tasty.
Swedish meatballs are rarely done anymore but are always a hit.
Not a personal fan of the mini quiches but many like them. Mini tarts also fall into this category.
Good cheese and fruit trays work well.
Melon wrapped in perchuto (spelling?) is a good one.
Everybody also likes cookie trays.

Spinach dip, shrimp, and fancy cheeses - those are the things that keep me happy.

Some good suggestions there - the quiches are over down over here but people do like them.

It is pretty much a fact that most things are better with bacon..lol

Anyone that was at the Pheonix show last year knows how much a hit a chocolate fountain can be. They are selling hte mini fountains all over the place but I keep thinking I would use it once and then have to store it for years.

Yeah I am a little sick of seeing the quiches myself.

Remembered another that I really like. Stuffed mushroom caps. Lots of filling choices of course though I suggest ones with bacon :winkwink:

I make a killer stuffed mushroom and it does involve bacon :) Mushrooms are my faveorite food so I can do pretty much anything with them and still be happy.

JUSTB 12-13-2005 12:23 PM

layered mexican dip

everybody likes it

I put refried beans in the cuisinart and season to taste then spread on a large platter

Then top with black olives, sour cream, jalapenos, salsa, cheese, whatever you like. I like to do it in rows and use the piping bag for the sour cream ; )

Just don't end up spending a day in the kitchen.... so you can enjoy your party.

sickkittens 12-13-2005 01:14 PM

Grilled pizza always wins...you just have to know how to grill it right.

I don't mind spending all morning in the kitchen as long as I get to have everything done by the time people arrive. I just like it when people are happy.

who 12-13-2005 02:45 PM

Seriously... in Australia we have a thing called a 'party pie' .. it's like a little aussie meat pie .. really small.. you chuck those in the oven, then serve them with a gallon of tomato sauce, and every single man and his dog will think you're the best party chef in the world. believe me.

Yo, that aussie guy.. dunefield.. post pics

MacDaddyPlaya 12-13-2005 02:51 PM

Spinach/Artichoke Dip, and I have the best recipe for it!

Sarah_Jayne 12-13-2005 02:51 PM

I just found a recipe for drunken meatballs that I have a feeling will be apreciated.
