Kite Boarding OR Wind Surfing ? ( QUESTIONS )

Kite Boarding OR Wind Surfing
I am thinking of taking up one of those sports.

Which is better ? and why ?
Which is easier to learn ?
What about equipment ? What brands ?
What about wind directions and conditions ?

I figured I would take a few lessons first ... but does anyone here do these sports and what can you tell me about them ?

Kite Boarding seems a lot cooler to me with less gear to lug around I don't know much about it though.

kite boarding is way more advanced than wind surfing. I can wind surf well and i dont know the first thing about kite boarding, that shit looks crazy.

Windsurfing is easy to learn and lots of fun.

Kite boarding, but make sue you get lessons. Don't want to hear about my brudda getting killed by hitting a building.

if you go from surfing to kite you will be more than happy I'm sure :)

much more exitement and a lot more time in the air. you won't miss surfing one bit

i have so much fun going kite boarding, but I definately recommend lessons. I bought the board / kite and just had a friend give me a run down thinking since I can surf it'd be easy, but the mechanics of catching big air and controlling your course are tough and can be pretty physically demanding. *thumbs up*

oh yah .. i recommend Liquid Force boards, i have a Drop LTD 138 and a spectrum II kite because i need to get my fat ass out the water :)

From what I understand is for Wind Surfing all you need is a steady wind... it does'nt have to be very powerful to windsurf.

Is that the same for Kite Boarding ?
Does Kite boarding demand a more powerful wind ?
Also what are the best wind conditions ?
