Here i couldnt live the way i want for less than $5k a month. My apartment alone costs me $1750 and i live a nice lifestyle. How about you guys?

Doesnt that really depend on your responsibilities. Myself being single and having no family i have to pay for means i can spend atleast 2 grand each month on what i want wheras someone with a family would be hardpushed to live on $5k.

new jersey is expensive as hell i live 10 min outside nyc so its even a bit pricier, expenses run about 5k a month rent included

Here in Romania, $190/month is an average salary.
My 5 rooms apartment costed me $70K
I spend $500/month, and i live a nice life, always eating out and going out.
I could spend only $300 and keep a decent life style.
Romania is a great place to save some $$$$

I love these threads... everyone's situation and lifestyle is different. There is no magic #. As long as you can pay your bills, have money for a few toys and most important put "x dollars" away. Then your doing ok

in my city you could live on 500$ a month... on my road you'd need 4k a month minimum, me, personally, my expenses are about 11k a month not including travelling and stuff... in thailand you can spend as little or as much as you want, depends on how you want to roll...

Romania isn't the only place where you don't need a lot of money to live.... A lot of nice countries in Eastern Europe are very pleasant to live, and very cheap (Bulgary, Hungary, Slovenia....)

but how is the lifestyle? clubs, bars, restaurants, and what not.

If you live in an apartment (=cheap asses) you can live for like 1880-2000$/month. For about 3000$/month you can have an ok car, dress nice and have a decent sized home.

Just a little over $700 a month here gets me all I need.

You can find lot of great clubs, bars and restaurants... Some look very "international" and are targetting foreigners and rich people (but are cheaper than in Western Europe), some are more local, and very cheap.
You can find everything you want : there's a lot of very good clubs with great DJs, good, restaurants, etc... The only difference is that you can afford to go everywhere without thinking about the money you're spending.
I'm native from Western Europe, and i don't need anything than i can't find here.

I *COULD* live on say.. $500 month, but that's because I don't have any debt and I own my home. I guess I'd need around $2000 to live like I do, where I do if I didn't own this place. However.. I don't drive a big, expensive car.. I don't buy dvd's, clothes, shoes or eat out. I live a pretty simple life.

I couldn't live where i am for less then $8k a month .. that includes utilities and one car ... and i have a low mortgage .. bought the house on a great deal and put about $100k into it to make it comfortable ... i still have a lot to do but don't want to move ..i like the place ..
