Question: Traffic Trading Scripts and Bookmarkers = Bullshit?
OK... Traffic trading scripts judge bookmarkers in this manner:
LINK REL "SHORTCUT ICON" HREF "/cgi-bin/tm3/b" (3 characters removed to pass GFY's filters) Now... what this is doing is if someones browser asks for a favorite.ico file it counts them as a bookmarker. Here is the flaw... Everyone who goes to your site and HAS NOT picked up a favorite icon will be counted... Bookmarkers would be the ones who DON'T get counted because they already picked one up the first time they came in! So basically this thing is counting your NON-BOOKMARKER traffic? |
Or should I say it is counting the people who have never been to your website.
|
Everybody must be planning to sell a TGP/MGP based on the amount of "bookmarkers"?
|
You talking to yourself again?
|
thought about the same thing
this flow is in stats programs as well (like awstats) |
40.000 killed so far in the earthquake in India/Pakistan
That is a fucking insane amount... and in Guatemala a whole village with 1400 people was wiped from the surface of the earth by a mudslide.... a whole fucking town!!!! 1400 died a blink of an eye :Oh crap :warning
But hey - its not in the US, so no headlines   |

TGP traffic sucks smelly donkey ass. Try something better, like chatrooms or crossdex pages or wikis... do something more rewarding will ya? All that effort for 1:1000000000000000000000000 conversions. Jeez
|
Still relevent... All of you who claim you have x number of bookmarkers are actually just full of shit. Your scripts check when someone asks for a favorite icon... That has nothing to do with bookmarking your website.

There is no way to track "bookmark" traffic. Tracking the favicon hits only tracks for IE which these days can be as low as 80% of your surfers.. Just tracking no referers also counts crawlers, bots, spiders, anon surfers and bookmarkers. You can take the norefs, look at your favicon hits, then check out how many people search for your site..mix it all up and come up with a rough idea.. but why does it matter? At the end of the day, if you're getting 20k noref on one site and 100k noref on another, you KNOW you've got a shitload more bookmarkers on the second one.
But if you really need some number, I've found that 60%-80% of norefs gives you a good rough estimate of bookmark traffic. But your mileage may vary. |
if you need a trading script to tell you how many bookmarks a site has to be brutally honest you don't really know much about this biz

I love it when a lard ass has to be smug so he can feel better when he looks in the mirror. |
what is the definition of a bookmarker?
does he have to hit the site daily, monthly or somwhere in between? what if he bookmarks 5 different pages on one site....is he counted as 5 or 1? |
I'd say... someone who comes to your site regularly. Preferably using you as his portal to porn. All of you who started sites pre 1999 have mostly the later. To them you are all facets of PORN and anyone who says otherwise is just a wiseguy with bad breath and mismatched socks.
