Hurricane Katrina wipes out one of our own

I've been reading alot of Katrina threads and I appologize for yet another one but the depth of destruction from this catastrophic event is truly worthy of them imho.

I'm not sure how many of you know FanTC but he lived about 20 yards from the oceanfront in Mississipi. He and his young wife were initially going to try and ride the storm out because the highways were so congested. Thank goodness they decided to use the backstreets to evacuate at the last moment because the entire apartment complex where they lived (and more) were completely obliterated.

They didn't get far before the beast hit but they have survived albeit with damage to the car and a few cuts and bruises. FanTC and his wife are now living in their car in a parking lot. There is no home to go back to, there is no work to go back to as Carol worked at a casino that no longer exists. They have no furniture, very few clothes and very little else.

Although hundreds of thousands of people have been affected by this hurricane I thought you guys might like to know that it also touched one of our own. They are a sweet young couple and FanTC has been working in the industry for 3 years now. Perhaps you can spare a prayer or two for them also ... I know they can use all they can get.

On another note, I know FletchXXX, mardi gras and a few others have friends and family in some of the badly hit areas and my prayers go out to all of them. I hope everyone is safe.

*hugs*

Sarah_Jayne 08-31-2005 06:08 AM

has mardigras posted at all (I would imagine not).

:( for everyone involved

gangbangjoe 08-31-2005 06:09 AM

oh shit

i hope they are all save

sherie 08-31-2005 06:25 AM

Wishing them the best.

vicki 08-31-2005 06:35 AM

I agree, its a very sad situation.
I can't even fathom waking up to have no house, no food, no water, no clothes .. nothing. I honestly don't know what i'd do, its a horrible thought :(

nikcho 08-31-2005 06:40 AM

It is really sad. I was without power for 3 days but watching on TV what these poor people have to go through is heartbreaking.

Also I planned for the Southern Gay Decadence this Labor Day weekend in New Orleans. Just cancelled flight (got a full refund which is unusual) and hotel reservations. Maybe next year, maybe...

assmunk 08-31-2005 06:43 AM

if i were religious i'd pray for them..instead, i wish them all the luck and strength.

vicki 08-31-2005 06:54 AM

by the way, if anyone wants to help him with a dollor or two, here is his paypal info: [email protected]

Of course he has not asked for it .. heck they don't even have the charger for their cell phone!
I just happen to know the paypal from past dealings and I'm sure they could use any bit of help

He runs a little link list at portal-to-porn.com

From what he said he was north east of the city. If he has posted since I am glad to hear it.

Sad to hear.. I have family and friends in gulfport/biloxi and i haven't heard from any of them.. One of them worked for the treasure bay casino boat and he was going to ride it out on the boat.. If you have seen pictures the boat was completely destroyed , so i sure hope they changed plans when it hit.

Vicki, if they can get to Florida, I'll make room for them for 6-8 weeks, as long as they can put up with my crazy family, and the repairs I need to make to my home. I'm moving out on the 15th, but they can stay in my house while I am repainting, steam cleaning, etc etc.
Let me know ASAP, because I'll have to clean out my spare bedroom~it's a junk room right now, lol.

tony286 08-31-2005 03:24 PM

I wish them all the best , it really sux. I hope they had renters insurance

Babagirls 08-31-2005 03:25 PM

chase that is so very kind of you! They can't come to me as it would take them into the heart of New Orleans and the highways are down.

contact with them is very sporatic as you can imagine and they don't have the charger for the cell phone but I will relay to them if we get in contact again (i'm sure we will i just don't know how long it will take)

if you want to send me a private email with your contact information I will get it to him just in case he has found no other solution. Please email my private addy ... webmagic101 AT gmail.com

I'm sure FanTC and Carol would want me to thank each and every one of you that have sent well wishes and more. THANK YOU!!

pornguy, i do not know if he uses epassporte , i'll try to find out if I can but know your offer warms my heart *hugs*

I'm sending good vibes to him and his family to pull through this as best they can... It's times like these I wish I owned a helicopter... :(

Donations will help them rebuild so please do what you can, but not much can help the long wait they have to endure..

BellaSeaira 08-31-2005 08:44 PM

Hope everything will work out for them sent a few bucks to the paypal

vicki 08-31-2005 08:44 PM

Yes, every single penny can help and is truly appreciated when you have nothing at all.

Chase and Jimmy, thank you so much for your emails ... i'm attempting to plan an extraction for them but waiting on details. I do know all the roads into Biloxi have been closed off and NO civilians allowed in whatsoever. I'm trying to find out if his car is driveable, if he has gas (because there is none to be had until Florida it seems) etc etc

I will email you soon but i did want to say thanks right now! *big warm hugs*

Miguel T 08-31-2005 08:50 PM

Hope they are alright!

Spunky 08-31-2005 08:52 PM

Chase, you are a good one. You are a good one.

vicki 09-01-2005 05:47 AM

Update:

we were only able to have communication with them once yesterday morning. The cell lines are completely bogged at all hours.

FanTC (Mark) is in complete shock and close to panic stages. He was in tears on the phone saying he was helping other 'refugees' stack bodies ... his heart is broken.
They literally only got out with the clothes on their backs.
Of course water is everyones main priority and at the time of the call they had had none for over 24 hours.

We are praying to get contact again today somehow to tell them we have a plan set out for them. Through countless hours of phone calls, emails and icq's we've formulated the following:
Because they are allowing NO civilians into the area, once we have his exact location we can call the OEC to go extract them to a Red Cross Shelter where they will have food, water and a cot.

Once the streets are somewhat passable (probably a few more days) and he can manage to get his 5 gallons of rationed gas he will need to make his way East (his car is driveable thank goodness). He'll need to get as close as he can to the Florida border where we will have a friend waiting with extra gas, food, water, money and a change of clothes. They will then escort them to the Tampa area for the temporary relocation that has so generously been offered.

However, Its essential that we somehow get in touch with him to let him know the plan, everything is based upon that point.

Whats ironic is that one of his best friends has emergency clearance credentials and the blue light enabling her to enter disaster zones but she lives in Tennessee and has a very unreliable car .. the car would not make the trip unfortunately. She is the only one that would be allowed to enter the zone *sigh*

I'll update you more as things progress

thank you on Marks behalf for everyone's well wishes, prayers and support .. you cannot begin to know how much it is appreciated.

Karla 09-01-2005 07:42 AM

i'm fantc's (mark's webmistress friend in tennessee), and i want to take this opportunity to thank you all for your kind words, prayers, donations and offers. he and carol will need eveything they can...to get out and, basically, start their lives over from scratch. the last time i heard from him was yesterday morning. he was completely panicked, as they were still stranded in a parking lot, inland enough to escape the storm surge. they have no gas, no food, and no water or ice. several of us have managed to get through the cloggeed cell towers, and leave a voice mail message on his phone, but i fear his battery finally died. at least there is a plan to help him and carol --> if we are able to make contact. thank you all! and special thanks to vicki!

Sin 09-01-2005 07:50 AM

My thoughts & Hopes are with him as well as my other friends in the area, I do hope that they manage to get to Florida safely!

loverboy 09-01-2005 10:48 AM

it would take generations to rebuilt was has been lost.. my heart goes out to those victims

:smokin

vicki 09-01-2005 10:54 AM

still no word from him folks but I've contacted the Red Cross and given his name with a phone number to call if he shows up at one of the shelters

As overworked as they are I do not know how efficient that will be *crossing fingers*
