Yikes.. hope it all ends up okay for him!

Holly Lez! 09-01-2005 11:03 AM

So very sad :Oh crap . My heart breaks for everyone who has suffered because of this, thanks for the paypal info I will make a contribution today! My thoughts and prayers are with fantc and his wife. I hope they make it to Florida safely.

Most of the peope who had money to leave in new orleans are out here in Baton Rouge now or in Texas.

Thanks for the updates, ladies. I'll start working on the room today. My son has a pc (it's not very fast and doesn't have much memory, but it will do for a few weeks, lol) that Mark can use to work on; we just have to figure out how to make my connection wireless, or get a hub and run a wire.

I'll contact social services here and find out if there is any help they can get, and how to get them in touch with the services that FEMA offers, and so on. If you can give me a rough estimate of their clothing sizes, I'll hit up all my friends for clothes they can spare. I'm strapped, so I can't feed them like kings, but they'll have a warm, dry, safe place to stay, and food to eat, and water to drink.

Spankys Teens 09-01-2005 11:45 AM

i hope they stay safe...

The dutch offered to help repair the dykes...we're good at it.
I hope we can do some good there....

Cheers...as i aint religious i won't be praying but i do hope this gets resolved asap

badmin 09-01-2005 11:49 AM

They need to get to someone in their family and out of the car and parking lot. The chaos going on in the region will only spread.

MikeyFingaz 09-01-2005 11:57 AM

i dont claim to be religious. however i will pray for them, and all those affected. those of you arent religious, i hope that you will pray for them in your own way.

Vicki, this is tricky but it might get the Red Cross to move their asses. Tell the Red Cross he's a news correspondent for GFY or whatever website. Some of us have news websites and we can consider him a correspondent at the scene we really need to get in contact with. They'll make that extra effort.

If your friend in Tennessee has credentials but no car, I'm sure she can get a kick ass rental and I'm sure all of us pitching in can fork over enough to well load an SUV or van or truck she can have with provisions and such. She can roll in to the Red Cross and extract them. If he's panicked he's not in a rational state and may miss opportunities.

If they've not had water in 24 hours they're in serious danger and not much time left unless it rains and they'll have to do with rain water.

This is a situation where everyone has to improvise, bypass, reroute, rewire to get from one point to another.

update

It seems another webmaster was contacted by Mark today .. He confirmed that they have indeed lost everything except the clothes on their backs and his pc (lol). He is stuck in gas lines at the moment just South of Jackson.
Details are sketchy but the webmaster told him to call me or Karla asap
We don't know where (if anywhere specific) he was headed to or if he is just going from gas to gas right now as they are announcing where gas is available.

I was told that the cell towers are not allowing any calls IN to the area but do allow all they can OUT so we still have our fingers crossed that he will call.

Karla, do you happen to know if his car has OnStar?!

Chase, thank you!!!! *smooch*

GregB .. now thats an idea! Maybe we should be taking up a collection to get an SUV packed with supplies for Karla to get down there?? I wonder if gas would be an issue hmmmm

vicki 09-01-2005 05:12 PM

karla, please post your thoughts .. can you use your EOC contacts to find out about your ability to get enough gas for the drives? what about prices of renting an SUV and stocking it with essentials? Do you have a paypal to accept contributions??

please advise

having been out most of the day...have an URGENT update on fantc and carol, i JUST talked with them both via cellphone (appox 9:30pm est). they are currently stranded without gas on hwy 49 nb, about 18 miles south of jackson mississppi. right now, we need to get them some gas, water and food ASAP. if you have ANY contacts in that area, contact me, and i will tell you how to locate them. i also have an address for those of you who wish to send money orders directly to carol's relatives (which is where they are trying to get to, for a temporary stay. contact me privately for the snail mail address. if you have paypal and if you have not done so already, his paypal addy is [email protected]. they definitely NEED financial assistance (even if its just a few dollars), becuse they have lost everything! and they - without a doubt - need our moral support, too! mark could barely talk to me on the phone he was so devastated, so carol took over. if you know someone who can get to them with supplies, please contact me asap.

my email: [email protected]
my icq: 328-598-121

i have also passed on some other vital information to vicki, as well, in hopes we can get the back on the road and to safety.

thank you your help! i KNOW they WILL appreciate it, guys and gals, and i do, too!

edit to add: carol tells me they DO have their atm card, but there are currenty NO places with electricity to access fund at this time. we need to get them to a safe place.

vicki 09-01-2005 08:59 PM

great!

at least we know WHERE he is .. ok this is what we need

does ANYBODY have a contact in the Jackson Miss area or reasonably close to there??

at this point we need to get him some gas, water and food to last him till he can reach working atm's and gas pumps. He is completely stranded

ANYONE??

Karla 09-01-2005 09:43 PM

oh, and sadly, i have also learned that one of their cats passed away from either the heat, dehydration, or starvation. he and carol have one cat that is still alive, so, as trivial is it sounds, if SOMEONE can reach them, some food for the cat might be in order. so many people tend to forget how important pets are. and since they have already lost everying thing, already, this is extremely sad for them, i'm sure.

vicki 09-02-2005 05:52 AM

Now that we know more details of their situation I've begun a new thread asking for immediate assistance to get them back on the road to safety again
its located here: http://www.gofuckyourself.com/showth...94#post8133594

Greg B 09-02-2005 06:37 AM

vicki, do you have that Red Cross # for Biloxi? I'm trying to find some other lost ones.
