Sheriff Jack McCann of Craighead County, Arkansas, said that means he will be able to legally purchase guns. McCann said neither of the boys has given a reason for the shootings or expressed remorse.

The law has already been changed. It just can't be applied retroactively to his case.

The sad thing is that this kid is leaving Arkansas. We don't want that pile of shit in other states. Let him live in Arkansas where murdering kids isn't a bad thing apparently.

The first recorded school shooting was May 18, 1927, Bath, Michigan.

Forty people were killed when farmer Andrew Kehoe, angry over his tax bill, set off dynamite at the local school.

As parents and town folks rushed towards the blast, Kehoe drove back into the school yard. He motioned school superintendent Emory Huyck over to his car, spoke to him briefly, then aimed a shot from his gun into the back seat of his car, setting off more dynamite.

By the time the roar from the two explosions faded, 38 children, the town's postmaster, a retired farmer, the superintendent, two teachers and Kehoe himself were dead. The body of Kehoe's wife was found at their home where Kehoe apparently killed her the morning of the blast.

Funny you have so much to say about this but failed to even read the article that was first posted in the thread. Arkansas law has been changed because of this unfortunate event so they can now try someone under the age of 14 as an adult.

A large number of states have strange and stupid laws, weird ordinances, etc. it isn't just Arkansas lol. Some of them remain on the books still but are rarely enforced.

That's one fucked up part of the law. Cripe,s if you are man enough to premeditate a murder, you're man enough to be treated like a man.

Thats also great news for his next possible victims. Now they can die easier knowing that their killer may actually go to prison, if he decides to act upon his violent urges he so apparently posseses.

What I find interesting is both shooters were doing federal time but aren't listed with the Bureau Of Prisons. This doesn't make sense considering any other person who does federal time is listed with the BOP for life from my understanding. Even after federal release you are still in the database, on the website for life. The only thing I can come up with is b/c they were minors at the time, and the fact that the BOP had been hiding what actual federal institution was holding the shooters (for their protection I guess). Anytime you look someone up with the BOP you are given the institution so maybe they decided not to include them in it? http://www.bop.gov

Personally I don't think they deserve protection, even if they were minors when they did this. They should be included in the BOP registry just like any other criminal that is in a federal institution. I know on the news yesterday I saw a story about this and the media and prosecutors couldn't even get the BOP to divulge what institution was releasing the 21yr old murderer. That is just lame, they aren't in the business of protecting people yet they go to this extent to 'hide' where this fuckhead is being held.

If the Feds hadnt stepped in and prosecuted the boys under federal gun violations the two boys would have been released when they were 18 instead of 21. That would have been pretty brutal for the victim's families. A quadruple murder and the one boy who was 13 would have done less than 5 years.

The Jonesboro killings were the major reason many states, including Tenn, changed their laws to allow for the prosecution of minors as adults.

Actually, there were 5 murders, 4 students and 1 teacher. In addition, 9 students and another teacher were wounded.

Its unfortunate that a child that has been obviously neglected, has to pay for a crime like that. I agree somewhat with that to a point....

But when the child "stole" the guns, and precalculated the crime of murder of several individuals, he is obviuosly not fit for society. Anyone else disagree with that????

I am not making a stance against or for gun laws. I come from a family of hunters, and have owned guns myself. I have shot dead many ducks, rabbits, squirels, deer, and racoons. I remember going hunting when i was 14 with a 20 guage shotgun..I took the hunter safety course. I seen other kids there, I was scared to death to be around, when they had a gun in their hands.

My father showed me alot of discipline and was very active in our lifes. I have always felt very fortunate for that.

What im trying to say is that, I didnt shoot anyone when i was 14, even though I owned my own shotgun. My father and mother, installed good morals and intelligence in me at an early age. My parents would have never given me a gun, if they thought I had a screw lose. Im not saying his parents gave him a gun. In the "news article" it says he stole the guns, but just like any parent should be responsible for what a child does... so should his parents.

In my mind, my parents would have been just as responsible if I were to have harmed someone with my firearm along with myself. My father would have been responsible for allowing me to go out into the world, not paying attention to the obviuos warning signs of a disturbed individual, thus neglecting me and my well being, not too mention the well being of other people.

Parents need to start bearing more responsiblity for their children, or dont have them.

I lived by these guys in Tennessee.. they were cousins... and hey went hunting one day... and one of them shot the other one... thinking he was a white tailed deer.

About a month after that, some guy shot his 16 year stepson while hunting...

I was born and raised in Jonesboro .. I am now about 15 min down the road from it.. I can tell you for a fact that people in this area are very very pissed about this..
My dad owns an ambulance service here and my brother and him worked the shooting.. It has practically ruined my little brothers life. He carried one little girl in the front of the ambulance because there was not enough room for everyone.. she was shot in the head.. 9 years old..
She later died..

People here are furious and being the redneck area that it is.. I am sure his family knows to keep him as far away from jonesboro as possible.

If they dont... I am sure they will realize it very soon by all of the talk I have been hearing.

Yeah it's a fucked up loophole in the law... But, isn't most of the laws fucked up anyways. You can get caught selling marijuana and get more prison time than if you went out and slit someones throat. A guy shot my wifes brother in the back in 04'. He got 15 years... I just seen on the news that some other guy got 30 years for selling pot....

The kid getting released is surely not moving back to Jonesboro right? That would be like pouring salt into the wound.
