What Do YOU do to keep In Shape?

After reading that Evil Chris just gave up fast food and soda and is contemplating giving up smoking as well, I am thinking about my lifestyle habits, which include too many cigarettes, way too much Red Bull, a higher than average metabolism, and not enough activity.

How do you keep yourselves fit?

chase 06-27-2005 01:06 PM

I'm not fit, but I started doing the Carmen Electra Fit to Strip workouts to keep my stamina up. I'm down a size or two in two weeks or so, and that's without making any other changes, just doing the workout every other day. But I'm not doing it to lose weight, really. I just wanted to be able to play basketball with my kids without panting, lol, and it helped with that almost from day one.

Peaches 06-27-2005 01:09 PM

You've seen me - I eat junk foods and walk to the car to keep in shape :)

Eat little carbs, jog, do some push ups, and lately been finishing my basement which has resulted in my weight going down to 168 lb (im 5"10)

pornguy 06-27-2005 01:11 PM

When I get hungry at night, I drink water, instead of eating.
Trying to lose 5lbs. Lost 5 already, going for the final 5!!!

AaronM 06-27-2005 01:12 PM

I am required to eat on a regular basis to maintain my figure.

ProjectNaked 06-27-2005 01:19 PM

(8) 1500MG NO2 pills daily - gallon of water - weights every third day :thumbsup

beemk 06-27-2005 01:20 PM

try to not eat that much fast food, and go to the gym 3x a week.

you should check out lifetime fitness brad, they just built a new one on maple and haggerty and its 24 hours.

Rinaldo 06-27-2005 01:21 PM

Chio The Pirate 06-27-2005 01:22 PM

YARGH! Drummin' and kayakin'

JamesK2 06-27-2005 01:22 PM

nothing, really.

sickkittens 06-27-2005 01:22 PM

I jog, workout, and play baseball. At least I used to do all 3.

AcidMax 06-27-2005 01:24 PM

Well I am down about 20 lbs in the last 2-3 months, although I have taken some time off recently, I go to the gym 4-5 times per week when I am active, and alternate cardio and strength training.

When I am not at the gym I am usually out boating, jet skiing or doing physical activity related to being a paid on call firefighter.

All helps keep the stomach at least a little smaller than if I did nothing, considering I sit here 8-10 hrs a day programming most of the time.

Corleone 06-27-2005 01:25 PM

sex sex and more sex :D

sicone 06-27-2005 01:25 PM

I find that eating taco bell and pizza often helpt to keep me in a soft, round shape. Also, drink lots of Pepsi

BobG 06-27-2005 01:26 PM

Slow run at least 1 mile or 20 minutes per day and you'll drop 5-10 quickly. Cut out sugar and you'll drop an instant 5-10. That means no fruitjuice, no soda, no smoothies, no frappacinos, no candy no pussy.... oh wait, pussy's ok its sugar free.... oh yeah and of course beer fucks up the whole program.

Nismo 06-27-2005 01:29 PM

Running from the cops is great exercise.

gunfodder 06-27-2005 01:31 PM

i do a search on GFY for the other 500 threads about this.

Aly 06-27-2005 01:35 PM

I'm in the middle of a pretty hardcore program that's going rather well so far.

It's somewhat complex but here are the basics:

Diet:
Day 1-5: 30gr carbs max, minimum equivalent in protein grams to body lbs.
Day 6: All protein (tuna, plain chicken, raw fish and so on)
Day 7: All the fruit you can eat, but only fruit
Day 8-11: Low fat. Carbs can go up (but not too far), but fat is kept super low.
Day 12: pizza, large bowls of pasta, ice cream... whatever... in moderation.

Then... BACK to day 1 (for a month)

Exercise:
Strong and constant resistance training jumping back to short spurts of cardio between sets to keep the heart rate up - for 45 minutes. 5 days per week (not on the all-fruit day)

Supplements: High-protein, low-carb shakes; lots of glutamine; good multivitamins; fish oils caplets.

And that's about it... :upsidedow

Brad Mitchell 06-27-2005 01:35 PM

All those who advocated sex and then more sex has my vote.

Redbull and sex. Great combination for keeping fit.

Philosophically, I believe that all men and women need sex on a daily basis.

punker barbie 06-27-2005 01:35 PM

move into a 2 story house. i swear there are some days my legs hurt from running up and down the stairs.

12clicks 06-27-2005 01:36 PM

I dance around like a gay man who just doesn't care.

More Booze 06-27-2005 01:38 PM

Just learn to count calories, that will stop you from eating too much shit. Or at least it worked for me...

Gawdy 06-27-2005 01:38 PM

lots more wanking

CrazyNakedChick 06-27-2005 01:39 PM

Easy starter: no soda pop, not even diet (nothing but pure chemicals - Splenda is the Devil!). No processed meats, stick to lots of lean cuts with side salad. No fast food, stick to all fresh/organic food. Basically eat like a "caveman". If it's not fresh and chemical free, don't eat it.

Stop taking the elavator, take the stairs. As BobG said, speed walk at least one mile a day, it's only 15 minutes of your life and there's no excuse not to do it.

99% of the fruitjuice out there is nothing but Koolaid - color and sugar. Drink water, 2% milk, and whole juices (buy a juicer). The more water you drink, the more you'll crave it and it'll satisfy your thirst. I tried to drink a Coke the other day and thought it tasted like crap, and I used to drink 1 or 2 every day years ago.

The more you exercise and lay off the chemicals, the more energy you'll have. :)

buck naked 06-27-2005 01:39 PM

Run 25+ miles a week--aerobics
Chinups, several sets totalling 50 at least once a week--strength
No caffeine
No soda
Small portions when you eat

Evil Doer 06-27-2005 01:40 PM

I do nothing, genetics made me skinny :)

loverboy 06-27-2005 01:40 PM

eat in moderation, the right food, well balanced diet and regular exercise

:smokin

Jim_Gunn 06-27-2005 01:41 PM

I made a radical lifestyle change seven months ago in order to get in shape. I gave up all junk food and snacks, started weight training three or four days a week with a personal trainer at a local gym and doing fifty minutes of cardio on a stationary bike every other day as well as eating a very strict healthy diet. Plus I cut way back on what was once multiple times a day weed smoking. I dropped thirty-five pounds so far and gained a fair amount of muscle so the hard work is paying off. I actually feel great now physically and mentally too. I started a boxing class at my gym a couple of weeks ago and that was fun until one overzealous strong guy punched me in the side with a right hook in the first class and broke my rib. Hopefully I am almost healed and can get back to lifting again. After going this far I am really into it and am not going to be satisfied until I get a visible six pack :-)

Snake Doctor 06-27-2005 01:53 PM

I do alot of heavy lifting.

I lift the phone to call papa john's.

3 sets of 10 each week :1orglaugh

CDSmith 06-27-2005 01:54 PM

I just rode a quick 4 miles or so on the mountain bike. :D

My diet is fine. I don't smoke, cut way down on my drinking last year.

Scott McD 06-27-2005 01:55 PM

Masturbate furiously... :2 cents:

Paco, of Large Cash. 06-27-2005 01:56 PM

More or less, anything:
- I refuse to work more than 8/day or 40/week
- quit smoking 18-months ago
- telemark (50+days last season)
- mountaineering: rock climbing (second season), ice climbing (first season), scrambles/hikes (30/year average) & trail running
- traction kite (whenever there is a 25km/hr+ breeze/wind)
- jog/run
- walk (to and from work)
- rollerblade (to and from work)
- basic regiment of sit & push-ups, everyday
- canoe/kayak
- cycle (mainly a roadie - I only 'mountain' bike where I am suppose to)
- eat more or less whatever I want, so long as I've been a good boy.
I do not do gyms -- too much yak-yak going on and they remind me of the meatmarket.

tranza 06-27-2005 01:59 PM

I go to the gym 3 times a week...

Nismo 06-27-2005 02:01 PM

45min cardio 5x a week.
lift hard in the gym 4 days a week.
eat right.

Kanon 06-27-2005 02:02 PM

I've found the most beneficial thing by far is not eating a few hours before bed. Was a hard habit to break though.

I prefer kickboxing and brasilian ju jitsu as a way to stay in shape, I love competition, hopefully in a year or less I'll be able to compete and beat someone up :thumbsup

SABAI 06-27-2005 02:06 PM

i drink half a bottle of JW blacklabel every day , eat fat juicy steaks , smoke one pak and a hafl of smokes, drink half a liter of cofee (european , not the american socks juice) , i snort coke and GHB every weekend, take meth everyday to keep up with he work , bonk an average of two thai whores a day and my regular girlfriend 3 times a day , i look 55 but i'm 32 and i love my lifestyle , you should try it some day, who knows you can get run over by a bus tomorrow

that is my philosophy of life , i dont want to be the cemetary richest guy, enjoy it while you still can

Zoe_Zoebaboe 06-27-2005 02:07 PM

I've been going to the gym every other day to do an hour or cardio and then 30 minutes of weights, and it's been showing.

Just like what everyone else said...no junk food, no sodas...if you have to think whether or not you can eat/drink it you usually cant.

Almost tempted to do a daily cardio workout. Working from home has its downfalls...I rarely leave the house.

CrazyNakedChick 06-27-2005 02:08 PM

beemk, heheh. I've always got a big ass glass o' ice water nearby. Plus I make sure to drink a full glass of super ice cold milk with dinner every night, helps cut down portion size, etc.

Rock on peoples, turning off the idiot boxes for a little while and going outside to play is one of the best moves anyone could make. Mountain biking is great exercise, but just being outside in the woods really cheers me up.

BlueWire 06-27-2005 02:14 PM

Eat quesadillas...i swear it works! :thumbsup

angel_x3ws 06-27-2005 02:16 PM

well I usually jog a minimimum of 4 kilometers before... or swim about a couple laps in a 50m swimming pool at least once in 2 weeks..to keep me fit.. I'm not fond of going to the gym as it is very expensive ..hehhe.. but i eat a lot..but i do have a very quick metabolism so i don't get fat that easily no matter how much i stuff into my mouth
