Pittbulls do tend to be the favorite of Drug Dealers and other assorted trash, both white and black, for the time being. Before that, it was Rottweilers and German Sheppards.

Well, most people who own these dogs **THINK** it gives them status or makes them look tough. I mean, objectively seen, a Labrador is a far more friendly & nicer dog to keep than a pittbull.

I've owned both Labs and Rottweilers. The most gentle of all my dogs is a 150 pound male Rottweiler.

But more than likely the one with the most potential to cause damage if ever provoked...and with an animal you can never be quite sure what that will be.

I ow a Pit have never been bitten by ANY Pit. I have been bitten by both a German Sheppard( which are LARGER than Pits ) and a chihuahua. I am more afraid of either of those than a Pit.

Your own statistics you're quoting from show that a pure bread dog is LESS likely to bite than a mutt, period. When you have a large, powerful dog and it does bite, it does more damage. Simple physics.

I am very much a dog lover. My sister is a Veterinarian and I sometimes foster and have now adopted a Rottweiler she rescued. I know the breed very, very well, and I know my dogs are not going to just "snap" one day. My sister will tell you the same thing, which is that a well socialized, trained and properly adapted Rottweiler does NOT just suddenly snap for no reason and kill someone. The same goes for a Pittbull. I've had this VERY conversation with her, at her office, with several DVMs. When it comes to animal behaviour, she's an expert in the subject where you and I are not.

Yep as a kid in the 70's you never heard of Pits. The Doberman was the "killer" dog. If you had one and you wife was pregnant you were told to get rid of it before your kid was born or it would eat your baby. Dobermans were bred killers we were told. Some people down the road had some and we were told not to go near that house because they could jump the 8 foot high fence and rip you to shreds before you could run 20 feet.
