...looking for a few impoverished noobs...

Just to prove a point, I'm taking on a handful of inexperienced "webmasters" who aren't making any money. Within 60 days, you should be making enough to occasionally reach for the check and take cabs home from the movies. If you'd like to be considered for this opportunity, please send an email to i_am_a_swan[]profitLABINC[]com with a few sentences about yourself and some links to your stuff. Participants must be willing to share information about the changes to their lifestyle after the 60 days, at which time a "Results" thread will be posted to this board. There will be no cost to you. But you must be prepared to commit at least one hour per day (weekends included) to this project.

Regards,

2HP

I figured every class needs one of "those guys" sitting in the back who shoots spitballs at the other kids and makes raspberry noises when the teacher's back is turned. I think they actually help -- by taking the burden of unwanted conspicuousness off the other kids, and occasionaly providing comic relief.

But, of course, you can't advertise for such a one.

I feel -- touched by fate to have 'im, if not yet "lucky" -- :winkwink:

I'm curious whether you will give the participants a step-by-step guide, motivation or some general advice?

Also, What's the point you want to prove?

psili 06-24-2005 06:46 AM

Email shot and thanks for the offer.

I'll be playing it by ear with each person, assessing strengths, if they can write a line of code, etc -- it will depend what each brings to the table and the level of energy they put into it -- it should be fun -- :)

The point I'm trying to make is this -- as an industry, we need to build goodwill and "bridges" of all sorts. Whether we like it or not, there are people outside our "little circle" looking in with interest and curiosity at what we do and how we do it. There are also people looking in with rather less friendly designs on us. I'm hoping to show that we're organized enough in what we do to convey those things to someone who's coming in at close to zero. I'd like to show that the dark-expertise and "secrets" I know some folks like to pretend aren't learned but are called upon during satanic-SEO masses in the middle night, really aren't and actually can be. I guess maybe I'd like to turn out a few people who, even if they never end up working in Adult, might have good things to say -- maybe years down the road, if somebody asked them what they think about what we do. My point is to do a little demystification -- :winkwink:

Good looking out, Jack. Here's a bump for POSITIVE Karma threads!

marketsmart 06-24-2005 08:51 AM

I applaud the efforts. I think it's great to share knowledge and experience with others instead of treating everyone as a threat. There are actually a lot of people that are willing to help here if you just ask. Personally, I have asked many questions here lately and I have been really surprised with all of the genuine and helpful responses I received. A lot of people have also offered to help me off board and I have taken them up on their offer. In return I always offer to help people regarding topics I am knowlegeable in.

BTW... email sent from marketsmart

Tala 06-24-2005 08:58 AM

Very cool. Bump for good karma. :)

2HP, it was a pleasure meeting you in SD. This is a great offer for people needing help getting around and making some cash in the Biz. Props to you for the idea and willingness to help people!

FilthyRob 06-24-2005 09:06 AM

I would be interested to just boost my income. Who wouldn't.

angel_x3ws 06-24-2005 09:09 AM

hello.. we are interested in what you are offering.. i am gonna email you more about us.. we are a new web design company..hopefully you'll also need web designing.. but whatever the job is hopefully we can do it..

SleazyDream 06-24-2005 10:27 AM

ok, i'm in. I consider myself inexperienced. We'll compare my lifestyle today with what my new income in 2 months under your guidance can bring starting from scratch.

Nightwind 06-24-2005 10:36 AM

Did you get my email? Gmail is kinda wierd sometimes. :(

2HousePlague 06-24-2005 11:26 AM

All I can say is -- WOW -- it seems there are many more impoverished noobs out there than I had imagined -- :small-smi -- but, not to worry.

Even though I said only a "handful" -- just for assuming that would be about the number of responses I would get -- I won't be turning any of you away. I've been reading some of the e-mails you have sent, and I'm really moved.

This started out as just an early morning whim -- based on little more than wanting to channel outward some of the "abundant energy" that's been overflowing GFY and the industry this week. But, now, I'm encouraged to enlarge the idea a bit. Not sure exactly how, yet -- but I promise to answer all your e-mails this weekend, and start to put together some sort of structure.

This is very cool -- :)

If any of my colleagues in the industry have taken note of this thread, and would be interested in giving some of their time to mentoring these enthusiastic newcomers, I would love to hear from you. Scott, if you'd really rather "face the chalk board" sitting than stand and look the other way, how can I refuse -- LOL.

Thanks very much to all who have written, and to all who may yet write -- this feels like a good idea.

Nightwind, I got your e-mail -- I'll be in touch soon, and with all of you -- :thumbsup

You have "mail" -- well, you will have mail -- err -- it's the Satanic SEO Newsletter, so it will probably arrive sometime tonight -- :upsidedow -- this might be a good night for you and tASSy to bag it on the beach, and you might wanna throw down some painter's cloth around the left-side nightstand, just in case -- :winkwink:

Tala, yours went out in the bulk "mailing" on Full Moon Wednesday night -- it should have already animated, and is probably sleeping in the vegetable crisper in your fridge at home right now -- :)

2HousePlague 06-24-2005 07:40 PM

I must say, I feel a little embarrassed and stupid right now for calling you guys "impoverished noobs" in the first place -- :Oh crap

When I wrote the first post, to to be completely honest with you, I was expecting (and, I hope this is as funny to you as it was to me) the cast of Hackers -- :)

http://www.djfl.de/entertainment/sta...a_jolie_01.jpg

At least that's how you looked in my minds-eye -- lol -- which meant that one of you would have gotten the part played by Angelina Jolie... :winkwink:

Nah -- j/k -- or am I -- ? -- :winkwink:

Actually, it's not a bad place to start the instruction...

The Adult industry is as special as it is because our work is sex -- let me say that again, OUR WORK IS SEX. Now, I certainly don't wanna condescend by suggesting a less than open-minded prurience, but I think it's safe to say it's not exactly the way you imagined it -- in some ways better, in some other ways not.

Now, obviousy, it's the treatment of sex as commercial commodity that pervades our industry, and, so, it's that one fact that accounts for most of the differences between this business and any other business. But, while the thematic cause is always sex, the effects it has are different in the different areas of your personal and professional life.

Let's engage this important subject by addressing the different situations (at home and at "the office") that might come up.

Where shall we begin?

You guys pick a situation, and I'll tell ya how it is in when you're a pornographer.

I'm gonna pop down to Jack in the Box for 10 mins -- brb --

Ah, but I see there is a question: "You in the back, with the lips..."

Hey Teach! Do we get extra credit?

selena 06-24-2005 08:30 PM

I was a bartender for many years. I've always thought sex...or teasing with the possibility of sex...was a commercial commodity.

baddog 06-24-2005 08:35 PM

hmmm, my son wants to start with this. . . maybe I should let you train him

Tala 06-24-2005 08:40 PM

Okay. Sex is a commodity. We know. I think what many of us are missing is the fact that not only is it a commodity, it's human nature. Sex does sell. We're the ones who try to sell it.

There's something wrong there, though. IF sex sells, then why do we have to TRY to sell it instead of letting it sell itself?

I need a soda. Fuck.

2HousePlague 06-24-2005 08:53 PM

Sorry -- it took a little longer than expected to get Jack out of the Box -- :winkwink:

So what's the scenario we're gonna discuss?

Without a doubt, the women of the industry are our most precious treasure -- more so than the techology that distributes their images, or the deals that create billions in wealth for us every month.

I would defer to any women in the industry reading here tonight, who might wish to offer selena some comparison to her experiences as a bartender...

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that they were the same thing. :) Just that the notion of women using (or being used) sex as a commodity was common, in my view.

Tala 06-24-2005 09:05 PM

How about that? I'm a writer, ex bartender, and in both, I've seen sex used to sell LOTS of things. It's a very common commodity.

However, being a writer, while enjoyable for the most part, doesn't pay the bills as well as one would hope. There's got to be a better way.
