What?s with Sex.com?

After working with affiliates for over 3 years, we?re constantly trying to find new ways to help them make more money with our programs. Recently, we found that many of our affiliates were asking if Sex.com traffic could work with our products.

Instead of telling them to go ahead and give Sex.com a try, we decided it would be best for our affiliates financially, if we tested the program first. So we decided to give their system a whirl and publish the results?

The Test:

We deposited $1,000 into a Sex.com account in December 2004, we then contacted Michelle ([email protected]) who took on the job of making our products convert and bring us a healthy return on our investment.

The Results

As you can see by far the penis enlargement products performed the best:

Penis-Health - 10 Sales
ProSolution Pills - 9 Sales
ProEnhance - 6 Sales

In the end, with our $1000 and after a chargeback, we made $387.96. Keep in mind that this includes all the $$ spent on other programs other than the PE. (If we did this again we would ONLY push Penis Enlargement as this did the best). If we invested all the money in penis enlargement that figure would have doubled, which would have yielded about 50% ($500) return on investment. Live and learn.

Time This Took

These clicks came in over a 4 month period. Obviously, this is by no means a quick job, so if you?re looking for a quick ROI then this is not a very good source of traffic. However, if you have some spare $$$ you can afford to tie up for a few months, it can potentially give you a very health return on your investment.

Usual PPC traffic converts at 1:20 and on our forum we have tests with all the top PPC search engines, and tests comparing us to our competitors also.

That is what the figures are based on, AFFILIATE % is what u see there.

You can make a profit on sex.com traffic but damn is it ever slow coming.

our ppc stuff did a little better, but overall thats pretty close. its a pain in the ass managing those things and the time saved on leaving it alone has made me more money other places.

at least you didn't come in here and tell a bunch of stats lies like others do. i almost posted my fake stats pic, but you guys kept it real and i can't hate ya for that.

From my own experience with sex.com over a couple of years, their conversions dropped off dramatically.

Apparently, they took on new "partners" that IMO brought very questionable traffic sources to the program. Net net, the CPC rates dropped dramatically across most keywords/phrases as others learned how poor they were converting.

Caveat: Haven't used them in over 6 months so I can't say if any changes have been made or service improved since then.

Interesting for you to share the information.

If you're an amatuer and have no idea what you're doing, then you're right you won't make much money (proof of that above).

We regularily do tests on different PPCS so why don't you help your affiliates out and do similiar tests and post the results to them.

The quality of the traffic is diluted with the addition of these "partners". When you disable a site to make changes or to take advantage of specific time periods it is useless because the feed appears to be cached and continues to draw down your account.

Money still to be made though. Just takes a lot of baby sitting.

So you guys usually convert at 1:20, but on this case, even with a PPC campaign, you guys converted 1:921 overall?

Yes, you're amateurs. If you pull in $50 a month on sex.com it proves you know nothing about ppc. I do 25 times that a month on that one source. Keep pushing the snakeoil my limey friend.

These results mean something completely different to me.... Sex.com traffic is actually workable, even if slow.

I always theorised that it would be extremely difficult to convert, but with a well written and devised campaign it looks like I could possibly do something worthwhile here.

ummm whats stupid is your contradicting yourself with your MASSIVE signature, if you didn't want to create competition for yourself by getting new affiliates, makes you a somewhat poor rep.

I would not give out such detailed info though...

Though I have not used sex.com so far (bad reputation concerning conversions) I guess it works like Overture ... the key is to find keywords that exactly match your content :) Another thing is to have some kind of 'credit card needed' text in your description and so on...

I am in the ppc SE game for years now ... if you let a sales rep pick the keywords for you chances are high you will spend a lot of $$$ ;-)

They wanted us to promote Sex.com to our affiliates, so they ran the entire campaign and picked keywords etc for us.
