Health Insurance..
Ok I'm pretty much doing this internet thing full time since I don't want to find a real job and I'm doing pretty well..
So wtf do I do for insurance? Seems like my choices are very limited being self employed.. There should be some kind of adult webmaster union so we can get group plans or something... |
|
I had a plan with ehealthinsurance through ghi I just cancelled because the coverage was awful and for the price I was paying it was nuts.. and that was the only one they offered for self employed people.

Bump for buddy Mike, and an important issue :)

We use BlueCross BlueShield.
|
i'd say go for BlueCross/BlueSheild
when i was looking for insurance, they had some decent plans that werent that expensive. |
Go with Blue cross. they are not the best, but much better than having nothing at all.
|
It is very expensive :(
|
Alot of the time you can get it from the same place you get your house and car insurance
|
i use blue cross blue shield as a self employed person.

or under your spouses insurance plan (if they have a career offline). |
I used to do health plans for companies.
I still have alot of info. If you are young and healthy and have a higher than average income as a business owner - look at the HSA plans In most cases you can cut your premium in half. most agents won't tell you that because they work on commission and dont want to cut your premium in half If anyone wants to pick my brain, hit me up on icq: 231124768 |
i was able to get on bluecross/blue shield pretty cheap.

MSP 54 bucks a month Canadian

Oops misread post $300 a month you said or per quarter ?
|
blue cross anthem.
adjust your deductible to what you can live with (afford) if you have a catastrophic illness, makes a big difference in your premium. if you have good teeth and take care of them (don't get cavities much) don't take the dental---you won't die of a cavity. you kids must have some kind of health coverage. don't ever think otherwise, not having it can mean life or death, even in the usa. |
We are incorporated and have company health Insurance. Before we incorporated I talked to my Insurance broker who hooked my up and the family for 400.00 per month.
It's like a 80/20 plan. They even paid 50% of braces. 100 % for emergencies. 50 deductible for doctors. Blue Cross/Shield has some good plans too and are reasonable if you are a sole proprietor. Before you shop online, talk to your Insurance Broker, maybe the person you have your home/car/rental whatever with. Sometimes they give you a break Edit, before you freak out about the cost of our insurance. We have Dental, Optical (covers 100% of Lasic) and full medical.. It was worth it to us. But as earlier said by somebody else, if your in good health you can drop the Dental and Optical |
