Lets ALL remove Proxy traffic from the industry.
Here, without pissing off everyone offering COMMERCIAL software that could possibly kill COMPETING companies (i like my endz, i don't wanna take away someone else's).
How about I build a script that analyzes APACHE log files and checks each unique to analyze whether or not it's from a proxy.. But some people actually surf the net from proxies -- so to go into further detail I'll use a properly designed Hash style linked list to efficiently decide whether or not that connection is productive in the least bit -- that way you can find out where you're getting garbage traffic from SO YOU can SAVE your money and stop WASTING out trades. Good idea? |
but i like getting sold proxy traffic... if i dont get ripped off i dont feel like an adult webmaster... i'd be just a ... webmaster :(
|
Basically, it'd allow ALL of us to do better business -- MAKE MORE MONEY.. And send cheaters back to McDonald's... How do you feel?
|
i fucking hate that proxy bullshit...muthafuckas with their lil hitbots fucken up my scripts and shit...

Yes, it is :) But you get the jist. |
if you can weed out bs i'm all for it :D
as long as it doesnt slow down my server... |
Let us know when it's done :)
|
Great idea. But...
I don't pretend this is anything except a guess based on experience, but I estimate that these days around 40% of traded traffic is totally worthless in $$$ terms: either hitbot generated or bought cheaply, sourced from countries that card processors don't want to know about. I don't understand the rationale by which we see the first method as cheating and the second as fair, but there you go... Lots of people originate this traffic, but even more pass it along more or less innocently. It's everywhere. Which means that if only some webmasters start to filter their traffic, they will kill or seriously reduce most of their trades, losing the good traffic along with the bad. |

We can't kill innocent trades. |
HAHAHA!
sickbeatz "idea" #6 of free software that will "save" the industry. I hate to say it, but STFU noob. :1orglaugh |
how do you plan on detecting proxies?

I'd be up for it ... always depends on how good is the stuff ...

Whenever I buy 100k hits the best I hope for anymore is 15k of them to be any good. This is why people like choker go on vacation every month. It's like selling air. |
blocking 99% of proxies is pretty simply, I just have a simple script that will try to connect to the connecting host on the remote connecting host on the usual ports that open proxies usually run on, and if the tests come up positive the IP addy is added to the database and blacklisted
|
You are as stupid as Nick3131...
|
As in, any open-to-the-public proxies?
AOL proxies etc. all require the user of the proxy to be a customer, correct? Matt |
would never work.... efficiently... sorry to burst your bubble

LOL, This has to be one of the stupidest ideas, I mean yes its all nice and theory, But its all theory, Good idea's dont last like that, Because i mean thats a common idea and if it was possible to weed out false proxies from legit proxies there would already been a script made thats selling for good money, It's impossible to find out if its a legit proxy or not, Just because you can connect to the bitch and pull http feed on it doesnt mean its a bad proxy or legit, There is no real way to tell, Its not like when you connect to the proxy it sends a string like "HELLO THERE IM A FUCKING PROXY THAT SCAMMERS, HITBOTS, CRACKERS, CHEATERS USE ** PLEASE DISREGARD THIS MESSAGE THANKS **"
Just my :2 cents: |
Well intentioned idea, but unrealistic from a number of angles :2 cents:
|
I don't see what is so "unrealistic" about this, identifying a legit proxy is not hard at all

If i was to hitbot/scam which i dont those 100,000 proxies would be good because most likely if a true "blacklist" is made only about 10,000 of those proxies might be in that list, Proxies are a dime a dozen, Old ones die, New ones appear, You got dialup proxies which work just fine for mailing, hitbotting and the beauty with those is once that user disconnects from online and comes back hes got a whole new ip, So that IP thats in the blacklist is worthless now until he gets assigned that IP again by the isp's dhcp server. |
oh you're right, i know.. thats just one of the many factors that wouldnt make this work... but it wouldnt be hard to detect them.. it would just not work out in the long run
|
I would love to see this industry become more scam proof but its going to take time, But with any business industry you are always going to have scammers and cheaters, It's just life and we have to train ourselves to what to look at for :Oh crap
|
ive been working on a proxy blocker for about a week now, basically it blacklists based on a database of public open proxies that have been posted on the internet. Since i used to spam i have a database of about 50 sites that have updated proxy lists daily. These ips would of course be added to the banned list. Its for personal use so chances are i'll make it "open source" and let people change it as they see fit for their websites. Ill keep you guys updated

I CONSTANTLY make new methods and test new ways to filter out shit traffic. Even recently I stopped sending all gallery traffic with no refering url and no cookies to buyers. It all goes to my own galleries. Do I still pay the sellers for it? Hell yes. And in fact last week I changed the resellers program so that the sellers get back their no cookie and no refer traffic. Buyers in the resell niches do not get it. As far as proxy traffic I am not going to tell you how I filter it, but you better believe I do. Many people buy this traffic at a deep discount. |
